Must've been a lateral order of P22s made by Glock.

I KEED; I KEED; DON'T TAZE ME, BRO!!!

That is a common flaw in P22.  I beleive I read a product advisment or recall or smoething that could even give a pretty goo dround count estimate as to where it would fail...

Details on ammo etc?

I've seen pics of this happening to a P22 before, IIRC S&W replaced the slide.

I've always heard that those walther p22 slides were pot metal. I went with the Ruger MKIII. Sorry about the bro. Hope it gets fixed.

you got me on that one as well ... I was shooting, about the third mag of the day, and I pulled the trigger, and the slide bounced off of my shoulder ... I was shooting factory, rem "golden bullets" bulk pack

as for the round count ... well ... a cubic *F* ton .... i have shot this gun a lot .. well over 5k

not reloads .. it's a .22
rem golden bullet bulk pack

not a squib ..

the round fired and hit the target

Shitty Chinese monkey metal slides = failure.

The only thing potmetal should be used for is airsoft - not even rimfires.

This is one of the reasons I don't have a P22. They're simply cheaply made.

Not so much a KAboom, but the front did fall off.

I've heard about these problems with the P22, I haven't shot it  much in the last few years because of it,.

actually the front of the slide stayed on, due to the threaded adapter, the rest of the slide came flying off

Interesting. I have thousands and thousands of rounds through my dad's P22. I love using it to acquaint new shooters––Last thing I want is to have it fly off and hit some girl in the face and end up like this ––->

What year was your P22 made?

it was a "first edition"  i've had it for years ...  round count - 5k+ easy

so now you tell me      yes, the form 4 came in,  i picked it up from the dealer, and hit the range ... then the slide hit me

Not a KB.

Slides failing at the front is common with P22s, especially when there is some sort of shoulder in front of the slide (hence why it is most common with the longer-barrel variants that feature the "barrel weight" at the end of the slide).

ETA - It is considered an inevitability by a good number of individuals, including myself. P22s are NOT made to last; they are made to be cheap and to work well during their relatively short lifespan.

Mine is up to 17,000 now and still running good . Little peening here and there , and I need to re tighten the screws every now and than , but the slide is still in one piece . So what was hanging off the front of that when it went?

The barrel doesn't look damaged at all.  If I were betting $$ on the failure mode, I'd say that the POS potmetal slide developed stress cracks and sheared off under recoil.  The recoil spring was driving it forward, inertia was pulling it rearward, and that spot in the slide was the weakest point.

Not sure if serious, but this is funny either way

inclusions in the cast magnesium (IIRC) material.. poor choice for a slide material/method IMHO..

that said I DO own one myself.. only issue I've had is a feeding one and wather sez to put more rounds through it.

that was my assessment as well, in the one pic, I highlighted what looked to me like porosity or other material flaws in the slide where it broke. after years of shooting it, and thousands of rounds later ... she finally gave up

Those slides are made of metal similar to what Lorcins, Jennings, and Ravens are made from.  I'll take a cast steel Ruger or Browning any day of the week first.  I have never understood peoples' fascination with the Walther P22.

Just send it back, they will take care of you.    I had an older one (2004?) that developed cracks in the slide in '08.     I sent it in and they replaced the slide and some other parts at no cost.

That's good.    You'll have it back pretty quickly.     I think mine was about a week.

You'll put alot more rounds through it if you just got your suppressor

Saw the break, then saw the "First Edition" scroll on the slide and thought, "Well there's your problem."  I've seen a few early ones do that after installing the 5" barrel and shroud, or in this case, a thread adapter that is larger diameter than the hole in the front of the slide.  I don't think that ever was decided to to be reason, but every one that I've seen broken that way had something that would possibly impact the front of the slide as it cycled.
