The GunAndKnife forums are gone and is officially DOA!

SAD&TRUE, BUT NOT FORGOTTEN!

I don’t know how many of us own other types of firearms, but I would imagine that a true AR enthusiast would most likely have a 1911 or SSA Colt’s, or some type of quality sidearm in their personal armory.

I just purchased an original 1911 (pre-A1) made for the US Govt. at the end of the first WW, never re-arsenaled, and  re-issued to an officer (Maj. Col. William H Summerlin) in 1943. The 1911 was carried in the D-Day invasion and I have the correct documentation for it. It weren’t cheap!

Needless to say, my 1911 is a keeper, however, my best source of information on this 1918 mfg.1911 has died with the demise of  the GunAndKnife 1911 forums board, along with all the other Colt's SSA forums, GONE!

Does anyone know of a 1911 forum board, or belong to one who knows the old Colt’s 1911 pre-A1’s?

They've got a USGI forum where the discussion is centered around the older 1911's.

That's the only one I know of, but I'd bet there are others.

Edited to say that raf types faster than me. [:)]
