Thai.

The fiancee got us Rosetta Stone for Christmas. It's fun, but we haven't had a lot of time to work on it yet.

My father speaks English, Mandarin, Taiwanese, Japanese, some German and some Russian.

He grew up during WW2, can you tell?    Know your enemy!

English is my first language, and I have poor proficiency in Spanish and Mandarin.   I also studied Latin for two years in high school.

I voted Arabic.  Same thing about knowing your enemy; it's the same deal but the language has changed.

I want to get much better at German and Russian than I was, much less better than I am. I'd also like to learn Finnish, mainly for a lark, and Arabic and/or Farsi for a potential job skill.

The only other language I speak (or read) with any real competency is German: More reading than speaking.
I would like to (and am working on) Japanese....although whoever came up with the Kanji can go to hell.

EDIT: Kanji isn't nearly as bad to learn as Arabic script.

+1

OP: Russian. Have learner's dictionary and CD-rom just haven't had time to sit and try it. I took German in Highschool, and still talk to a few Austrian friends with it.

I have bought a couple of books and CD's on how to speak German, and one day
would love to have the Rosetta Stone German language course.

I want to go to Oktoberfest one day and it would be great to be able to ask some fraulein in her native language
"Where is the bathroom......I gotta piss like a racehorse"?

I already speak/read/write russian courtesy of your tax dollars (circa 1986).  I'd like to brush up on it a bit better though.

In reality Spanish would probably be most useful to me.

But I could get a cool job if I spoke fluent Arabic (or Farsi)

I would have to be good enough not to let the "GURGLE GURGLE" affect my translation.
