I'm looking to get a Seiko diver's watch, this one in particular:

Anyone have any experience with this watch? I've read a couple of reviews on the internet and they all seem pretty positive.

Any recommendations on where to buy it from? They've gotta ship down under.

I bought my SKX173 on Ebay and got a good deal. Be sure to check the seller's feedback and you're GTG.

Be sure to get yourself a Zulu strap in 22mm for your Seiko. Many colors etc.
Look here

My Seiko is set up exactly like this. Bombproof.

Seiko doesn't import Divers into Australia by what I can see on their official website. So I'll have to go grey market.

That one in particular is an SKX009J which is Japan made, costs a bit more and is more scarce that the malaysian model.

Chronograph.com is a very good seller.

Better pricing can be had however.

I've bought and sold hundreds of watches on line through watch forums.

Authorized Japanese Seiko Dealers such as Seiya or Rakuten or Chinowatch or Higuchi will take very very good care of you. They sell a ton of Japan only watches to US watch freaks. As AD's, they will also handle any issues, and you will get a new watch with a warranty.

The problem with buying Seikos on ebay (pokeymanu for instance) is the age of the watch. They sell the ones that are 8 to 12 years old (still new, but an auto that has sit for so long will need an immediate service).

No problems here, no import duties/fees payable on goods under $1000 here in Oz.

I had a look at some of the Japanese dealers above - couldn't see the the SKX009J on them. Chronograph.com is they way to go then?

I bought a Seiko SKX033 and an orange monster with rubber strap off ebay and both of them had to be reregulated as they lost minutes per day.  I bought one of them, can't remember which from pokemonyu.  Now, they work great and have for over a year.

I would love to have one like the OP is asking about though.  Just don't need to spend the money now.

Send them an email and ask for that particular model. Use the contact information on the site(s). Stick with Higuchi, Seiya, or Chino

Sorry for the hijack, but I was wondering:

Is it expected for a U.S. buyer to pay the list price as shown on those sites, or is bargaining expected or acceptable?  This would be as a first time and occasional future buyer, not a frequent or quantity purchaser.
