Well, its been a long time coming but the cat is finally out of teh bag on the NC DMV... note this is about the LEO branch of the DMV, not the bunch that issues tags (they have thier own problems).

ASHEVILLE - A former N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles enforcement officer says he was coerced by agency supervisors to contribute thousands of dollars to local and state Democratic candidates over a three-year period in exchange for promises of career advancement.

Bradley declined to say who coerced him into making donations, saying only that contributions were "procedure for officers" within the DMV. He added that officers who made the donations were considered "team players."

In his complaint, Brookshire admitted to accepting football tickets from paving companies and says he solicited $500 from a paving contractor to help pay for a golf outing for top DMV and Department of Transportation brass.
However, Brookshire claims he solicited the money at his supervisor's request, and says it was "commonplace within the division" to accept gifts.

According to a 1997 N.C. Department of Transportation memo obtained by the Citizen-Times, employees in the agency had "cited instances of political influence or intimidation as reasons for failing to perform certain job responsibilities."
