I can crank the max size for everyone if need be... usually i size my pics from my dig cam down from 1600x1200 (f'in huge!) to about 1280x1024 or 1024x768... then I compress it and save as jpg with ACDSee... usually the prob is with pic sizes being obscene.

You should have some sort of image editor that came with your camera, sometimes its photoshop le, other times its some proprietary software that lets you do simple things like resizing the pictures.

1) Open photo editor program
2) Shrink/Resize image to human size (1024x768 is solid, 800x600 is more normal, 640x480 is nice too) This will GREATLY decrease the overall file size.
3) SaveAs JPG - Most programs allow you to set the compression value when you save the file as a jpg. Setting it to 60% is normal and wont hurt quality, 40% you lose a little, 30% starts to get ugly...
4) Done!

Depending on the software there's different ways to do different things, and some things they don't include. ACDSee Classic is (well was, not sure now) a freeware download ([url]www.acdsee.com[/url]) which is an AMAZING thumbnail viewer and also allowed you to do batch image conversions/saves and compressions. It's what I use for my digital pictures to get them compressed if I don't go into photoshop to size them.

Sharing pics over 150k-250k on the net isn't good practice, but keeping copies of high quality IS if you plan on ordering prints. Usually I try to keep my pics from 50k-75k when sharing on the net and no bigger than 1024x768 so they load quick and look nice.
