This seems rather pointless to me - if my message is over the max 3500 characters, most people are simply going to split up the message in multipart parts, which only ruins the continuity of the post as well as annoy the posters.  I can't see how it does anything to save bandwidth (presumably the reason it is implemented), in fact, I would only think it would increase it, since more information is added when you end up posting 2+ messages instead of one (username, all the icons, etc).  Please at least increase it to say, 5000 characters.  I only have 30some posts, and I think I've ran into this limit 4-5 times already.
