Have some cool video taken from something that is R/C and flies?  Share it here!

Both videos on Maui.

DJI Phantom 3 1080p:

This first one was only my third flight with the drone, please excuse some jerky movements:

Somewhat better video:

Havent flown in 2 weeks.   Have 2 days off next week where I am gonna go hit the mountains.    Need a new spot to test my abilities as I am beginning to wear out the local park.

Also havent gotten goggles yet because I like to have peripheral vision for my surroundings while I fly.

Still a bit jerky but learning to flow between objects.

Thanks.

I am still not where I want to be.   I know I am missing something in both tuning as well as expo rates that will help me get smoother along with just being more gentle on the sticks.

When I can mattyflip at will and do knife edges through tiny spots at will then can I call my jedi skills complete.

Only been flying since about october of last year.

Youtube will help you a ton.

Racing drones are what you want to pay attention to.  210-250mm sizes with 5 inch or 6 inch props.    4 cell 16.8v packs being the minimum(start on 3 cell maybe but dont buy a ton of packs as you will progrss quickly).

Learn to fly in acro/rate/airmode so that you are NOT in self leveling/stabilized mode.   Stablized mode like Horizon is a crutch and takes a lot to break yourself off of it.

There are maybe 3 good channels to watch on drones.   Josh Bardwell, Project Blue Falcon(sad story as he died about a month ago in a motorcycle wreck), and Painless360.    All have done build tutorials and tuning tutorials.

I dont fly with goggles yet, use a monitor.   It has it's headaches and limitations but I like it so far.

I lost a drone in the river recently, gone forever, and it was roughly 550 dollars that washed away.   Motors, escs, flight controller, frame, 2 cameras, battery, and video tx.

If you get into it I would say start with a Taranis radio with FRSKY protocols.    You can get everything from a tiny Induxtrix style micro drone to a racing drone running with those things.

I am running a Martian frame which is a 30 dollar version of the ImpulseRC Alien which is a 110 dollar frame.   I would rather save 80 bucks which can be used to upgrade the flight controller or VTX than know I have a trick frame.

You can build a Banggood special for around 200-300 bucks but it might not be quite as durable or have the bleeding edge performance.

2100-2300kv motors work great with 4 cell batteries and 5inch props of various pitch/blade counts.

6 cell is my next adventure but not until I pay some shit off.   6s requires better ESCs and other supporting electronics before I start really ripping shit up.

Where my 4s setups now pull maybe 40k rpms, a 6s setup may pull 60k rpm.

Yep.  Flew it again that night after a blade replacement and a spray down with CRC circuit cleaner.  Replaced one ESC later as one seemed to develop a slight lag later on.

The Manufacturer contacted me about the video and inquired about using the video on their website and Facebook.  I told them have at it and they sent me a brand new Ver 2.0 to my work for free (hobby shop).

Flew 18 packs today.

Only 4 of them got recorded because my stupid Runcam 2 had a bad battery contact which would cause the thing to stop recording mid flight or during a tiny bump/vibration.   Had some really good flights today once I removed the Runcam.

Killed the link to low res.

Will repost high res once done processing.

Went back to the park again tonight.

Getting smoother...

Gonna get that damn barrel roll through the tree down.   This was my 6 inch 255 drone which is bigger than my 5 inch 210.   I had a clean pass with the 5 inch but not a complete flight.

Also smacked my 5 inch into the pole of the kiddy play ground flying the jungle gym.   I want to get good enough to own that thing.   But crashing means landing in sand and being done with that drone..  gonna start taking MAF cleaner with me to blow sand and gunk out of the motors.

Changed my camera angle to nearly 60 degrees and readjusting to having to be at higher throttle to stay level.   Also yaw starts to become roll and roll starts to impact yaw.   But it is in part hw JohnnyFPV can do what he does when he flys.   Has everything to do with MattyStuntz doing mattyflips.

I have to readapt to a newer/faster flying type.   Have some smooth flying snap turns into rolls but none recorded.

Almost smooth run, spot the dog walker and the F5/eject moment.

Trying to practice mattyflipping light poles.

Not quite able to roll in as quickly as I was hoping but I will get it down.   Had a better flip on another flight but ended up goint backwards into a tree about 3 feet off the ground.

Goal is to be able to roll into one quick and stay within 5-10 feet of the object and sling shot out with as much speed as going in.   A quick barrel roll and will be onto the next object.

No explosions...

Random cars come and park and people never get out.   I am better off not knowing.

Watch your runcam 2...

The connectors for the battery SUCK.

I had to fold a small piece of paper and wedge it on the back of the battery to drive the pins into contact with the battery.

Lost a lot of footage with my drones due to that.   Also watch for the lenses to scratch.   I have beat the shit out of mine and been able to reorder lenses on amazon.  Get one with an IR block if you buy new ones.

Luckily my battery seems to be GTG. I had it mounted to the underside

of a double barrel SxS 20 gauge last year during a pheasant hunt.

Good to know about the lenses. So far I haven't scratched it...yet.

My dad has one and his SD card wouldn't latch into the socket.

He had to wedge a bit of paper under the cover to keep it in place.

Had a build kicking around in my head for awhile and finally put it together.   Decent combination of light weight and big props.   Hopefully it will turn into a decent longer range ship.

I hadnt read the comments for a few days.

The foamer mouth breathers are the best.

"I use a drone to respectfully record the train in it's natural environment without disrupting it..."

The part they leave out is how they take it back to their basement to later jerk off to and share their fetish films, almost like child porn, with their other foamer mouth breathing retarded friends.

Hell of a train there.  DP units in the middle!

Would've been funny if a train came opposite way down the other set of tracks and nailed the drone.

Good chance he would have spotted it a good distance off while flying over the bridge and during other segments of the video.

The flying under the train was just ballsy as hell.   Also into the box car given multi-path interference and other issues.

If you havent flown off the analog 5.ighz video link we use for FPV then you likely dont know that static is just the name of the game.  But we use it because you can fly through static kinda like watching old TV chanels on over the air antennas during the 90s before digital.

We dont use digital because if you lose enough 1's and 0's the image is gone and takes awhile to re-establish.   Also digital has too much latency to do any of the things he did.

The HD video from that is not the quality of what he sees when flying, that is just the record camera which is likely a GoPro Session.

Took off down to Galveston on a nice morning last week to do some flying/shooting of the wreck of the concrete ship the USS Selma, commissioned during WW1 during the steel shortage, and later used as a tanker before suffering damage and eventually being scuttled in Galveston Bay in 1922.  I also got some footage of the Bolivar ferry and a tanker headed out the ship channel.

Gab707 stepped up the long range quality with this one...

I have a build that is very similar to what he built for these runs.   If I switch to a long range TX I am hoping to hit some similar distances for scaling mountains or running along foothills during wild flower season.

For a 2200mah 4s he really got out there.

Getting ready to order off a laptop to start seeing if I can start editing some video and get closer to having some editing skills for next spring when I am on vacation.

Hoping to have some 5s and 6s capable racing rigs available for keeping up with my mustangs.    If I can get a buddy or two to help out would like to do a bit of a flying and driving road trip.    Will need to look into a long range control setup for reliability for fly bys.    Maybe even move to 2.4ghz for video link from 5.8.

Have some ideas rolling around in my head for remote locstion filming.

Starting to play with a new editor.

Had more footage but again smacked the lense out of focus and lost more than half the flights.   Time to ditch the Runcam form factor and buy a GoPro Session.

Also a pain in the ass using OpenShot.   It is free but it has frustrated the living hell out of me on at least 3 occassions.

Going to reuse this song when editing skills and scenery improve in spring.

Grabbed a BlackFriday GoPro 5 Session.   Previous camera was a RunCam2 which I killed after wrecking it too damn many times.

Did some 4k flying today.   Had a bent prop after a biff so there is some bad vibration/jello while flying above 1/2 throttle.   Presented a different kind of challenge to try to fly while essentially crippled.   This was my heaviest quad running 1900KV Tmotors on 6045x3 props.   The GoPro mounting option was heavy as hell and didn't help things much.

Will probably be using 2 other drones for my primary GoPro options.
