Fuel - go buy some fresh gasoline. Don't try to use last year's fuel. Drain the old fuel in the carb, fuel line and tank.
Air - clean the air filter or replace it. Spark - pull the plug and make sure you're getting a strong spark. Ahem,... you did set the choke before trying to start it, right? |

Fresh gas 91 octane, air filter is fine, choked not choked, good spark I don't know.
It will sputter, kind of like a backfire but not run |

Did you hit something with it? Sounds like it could be a partially sheared flywheel key.

I don't know, it turns snorts and pops, if it is seared what would it do?

Intake valve was stuck. Got it running and grass cut. It will not REV very high like it used to and sort of surges but thats for another day.

I ASSumed that it had proper compression. That's what I get for assuming! Sounds like it's about time for a new mower!! |
