I am tired of my 12v mini compressor that takes 30m to fill one tire. Wife was given me approval to buy a small electric compressor for no more than $150. Is there anything around that fits that criteria and puts out decent CFM?

I bought this one: Craftsman Air Compressor

It has a 3 gallon tank, 1HP, oil lube compressor for under $80.

Considering I'm used to a massive air compressor growing up on the farm, this one as worked well for blowing out my sprinkler system and airing up the tires on my trailers and F-250.

Edited to add: Not sure what you mean by decent CFM, it's not even close to being able to run air tools, but good for small tasks around a house.

I had the same Craftsman (3 gallon 125 psi) and happened to purchase the product protection plan.  Well the pressure gauge froze up with 2 months left and I called them.  They swatted the last 6 inches of the power cord.  I sent it in and got a gift card which I used to buy the same 3 gallon but with 135 psi which is $90 now (http://www.sears.com/craftsman-3-gallon-portable-air-compressor/p-00915362000P?prdNo=5&blockNo=5&blockType=G5),  

Never had a problem doing any tire filling, using it Asa. Blower when cleaning the guns or lawn equipment nor running the trim nailer installing my crowne and baseboard along with other projects.  

I also Headed  to Lowes and bought a new gauge for $8 and a new plug for $3 and repaired the old one.  As long  as you change the oil and watch the level it will last you just fine.

We have been running this one for a couple of years now with no problems.

Do have to let it catch up when filling the pick up tires but it is not super slow.

If it were me, I'd watch Craigslist with $150 cash in hand.  You might find a decent 20 gallon machine or larger that someone wants to get rid of.  Yes, bigger is better.  As for Made in USA, you're at a pretty low price point for that.  Be happy with a used, sizeable machine.

ETA:  Want the ideal, American-made compressor that will still be running 100 years from now?  Get a Saylor-Beall for $2300.  Buy once, cry once.

Spend a little more and get a Makita Big Bore MAC700.            
 

As a trim carpenter who uses a small portable compressor almost daily, I suggest an oilless pancake style compressor.  They can be found in your price range.  I would stay away from bostich, I have had trouble with the quality of their compressors.  

I just got a senco on sale at menards for just over $100 and have been very pleased with it so far.  Fairly lightweight, compact, isn't too loud, and does not leak air at all.

I bought this one 7 years ago and it has been great.  I know its out of your price range but its been a good unit.

Read the reviews on amazon, makita makes great small compressors. I have the 5200 and love it.
