The trailer looks pretty good.
Clint Eastwood stars in the drama “Gran Torino,” marking his first film role since his Oscar-winning “Million Dollar Baby.” Eastwood also directs the film in which he plays Walt Kowalski, an iron-willed veteran living in a changing world, who is forced by his immigrant neighbors to confront his own long-held prejudices.

saw the preview tonight, looks cool. kind of... well, if you were an old soldier, and have nothing to lose, wouldnt you stand up for your neighborhood? on the other hand, maybe hes a bit too old to be fighting gang bangers. so im not sure about this one.
but, clint does kick ass. |
|
always a winning combination. |
|
|
I'm definitely going to see this. And in the theater, I'll pay the $9. I also want that poster. That man is nearly 80 and still looks like he could kick the shit out of half the people on the planet, while making the other half hold his jacket while he did it.

+1 This guy is a living, breathing Gunny Highway. |

Youtube Link as Apple have updated... yet again..

Glen Beck interviewed Mr. Eastwood a short time ago and told Clint he was afraid of him because he knew Clint could kick his butt!! |

Mix one part Heartbreak Ridge
Two parts Dirty Harry And a dash of Death Wish Blend for 180 minutes and enjoy The movie looks great!!! |
|
Damn, that movie looks like it going to be full of a whole lot of badass. |

I have a feeling there is going to be a lot less action than you guys are expecting. My guess is there is going to be a lot of character development a la Million Dollar Baby
. |

You open an Apple trailer and find that you need to download the latest Apple player... A fortnight later, same thing.... Gets monotonous |

The trailers in the original link worked fine for me last night and work fine for me now. Maybe so, but I updated Apple on the 13th October and this trailer is asking me to "Get the Apple Update" ETA: I sense a problem with the new text edits :o( |

Quoted: Yeah I'm not figuring it will be action packed, but as long as the characters and story are badass I'm cool with it. I LOVE the first Death Wish, and there's only a few shootings in it.I have a feeling there is going to be a lot less action than you guys are expecting. My guess is there is going to be a lot of character development a la Million Dollar Baby . |

I hate Quicktime, it fucks up my computer every time I load it.

That is one of the best previews I have ever seen. Can you imagine thinking you are the baddest gangbanger on the planet and suddenly you are looking at the bad end of a Garand and the man holding says: "Get off my lawn." How do you live that down?

an iron-willed veteran living in a changing I smell liberal preachyness! world, who is forced by his immigrant neighbors to confront his own long-held prejudices. |

Quoted: That is the one and only part I have some reservations about; they'll probably also end the flick with him getting rid of all his weapons.an iron-willed veteran living in a changingworld, who is forced by his immigrant neighbors to confront his ownlong-held prejudices. Quoted: Just to clear up my own view (as I posted an agreement with the quoted poster); yes I do think racism is a bad thing. I was personally referring to how movies with anti-racism messages in them tend to also have a lot of liberal shit piled on top of them, such as guns are bad, violence is never the answer, socialism is good, and so on.Quoted: an iron-willed veteran living in a changingworld, who is forced by his immigrant neighbors to confront his ownlong-held prejudices. an iron-willed veteran living in a changingworld, who is forced by his immigrant neighbors to confront his ownlong-held prejudices. I figured they meant that since Eastwood's character fought Korean's in his youth, he would have some trouble being good friends with them when they first move in. Sounds sort of logical to me. Either way, I will be seeing this film. |

Being fed up with the constant barrage of anti-racism messages in film, music, literature and news media does NOT make someone racist - A fact that seems to be lost on most lefties. |

I believe they filmed some of this movie around my neighborhood. I' d watch just to see if I recognize any place. Just to add I thought million dollar baby sucked ass.

Clint Eastwood has a history of civil rights activism. A theme like that in one of his movies is no surprise. It's also nice to see that advocating civil rights for all Americans doesn't have to go hand in hand with being a whining liberal pussy.
Making a movie that has an anti-racism message and also telling Spike Lee to shut his hole makes Clint Eastwood a national treasure in my book, for that reason and a lot of others too. |

Why do you think I am a liberal? I'm actually a conservative activist. I bet I've knocked on more doors to ask residents to vote for Republicans, waved more McCain signs for passing cars and coordinated more poltical activities in the past month than you have your entire life. |

Looks like a good movie.
I'm not sure why the main character is described as "prejudice" against Chinese people. Does he somehow discriminate against them based only on their ethnicity or does he simply not like them? I believe there is a difference between "not liking" or not wanting to associate with people and discriminating against them. |
|
What you're describing is the difference between prejudice and discrimination.

Looks good. His voice keeps getting grittier. I think it's leftover from Heartbreak Ridge. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3JTt0tJf58 |

Looks like a tamer version of Falling Down in the suburbs.
Looks good though. I'm not sure I'll see it in the theater... a DVD watch though. |

Are you fucking kidding me? Clint Easwood with a Garand and 1911?
I am fucking there!!! |

Here is some new info on the movie and a scene I added from the screenplay...

Just found out about this movie...being a HUGE Eastwood fan I cannot wait!!!
He reminds me of my father sooo much. My dad...6'2", took no crap cop who spoke softly, but would kick your ass if you crossed him...yet allllll his friends came to him for help when anything went wrong. One of those guys... Hope I'm half the man my father is/was.... |
