Garry James was doing an article about the best movies with guns. I didn;t agree with most of his choices. I am talking about movies where the guns are the stars.

#1) The Wild Bunch, the lead is that .30 cal water cooled Browning, but good supporting roles were the 1911's & the combat shotguns.

#2) Zulu Dawn for the British rifles & pistols.

#3) Enemy At The Gates, I so wanted a Mosin Nagant sniper rifle after that movie.

#4) Red Dawn, highlighting American bolt & lever actions V. Commie weapons.

#5) Jeremiah Johnson, this movie made black powder hunting

It's low budget, but Dog Soldiers is great. MP5s, Browning Hi Powers, shotguns, and the first thing they do is ditch their shitty SA80s. (granted they had no ammo but it was still a good idea)

Spartan is another good one because the favored pistol is the correct one, the 1911.

I think either "Dirty Harry" or "Quigley Down Under" for the best movie where the gun is the star.

Clint Eastwood sold more Models 29s in two hours than S&W's marketing dept. ever could.

Gary's list had Zulu Dawn & Enemy At the Gates and eight others. I will add his list tonight. It looks like I haven't seen a few of those movies.

I am going to disagree. your movie thread chose movies that are good shoot em ups, good gun battles.
These are movies that worship certain guns.

"Battleground" was another one of James' choices, the movie is about the Battle of the Bulge and he says the gun handling was done very well, and showed the correct guns.

"Silverado" was another one of my choices, excellent product placement for Henry rifles.

And that Aussie Selleck movie had people drooling over a Sharps, and made odd calibre rifles popular again.

1) Battleground
Battle of the Bulge movie, like the Browning 1919A6

2) Enemy At The Gates,
Scoped Mausers & Mosins, also sniper strategies discussed. Stalingrad sniper battle

3) The Four Feathers
19th century Sudan Colonial action, Long Lee Enfields & Remington Rolling Blocks
(Never saw it)

4) The Mummy
I had forgotten how much good gun porn this had, 1880's Lebels, 1873 French revolvers, 1911's, SAA's, Broomhandles, etc.

5) Prisoner of Zenda
Never saw it, but has Montenegrin revolvers.

6) The Sand Pebbles
Good gun porn from the 1920's. Especially the BAR & Lewis guns.

7) The Wind & The Lion
How often do you see potato digger machine guns?

8) Zulu
Webley revolvers & Martini-Henry rifle. (I almost bought one of those Nepalese .577's after seeing the movie.)

9) The Last Hunt
Bison hunting in the 1880's. The stars of this movie were a 1976 Winchester & a sporting Sharps.

10) Unconquered
1760's American frontier, Kentucky rifles.

Well I am sick and tired of seeing the same guns used in films over and over again.

MP5s M16s Beretta 92s ( if it is a good action movie then it is ok)

I liked HEAT because it was a great movie, but it also had a FN FAL Para, Galil ARM, Steyr TMP, HK 91 (my favorite) and of course a FNC

Replacement Killers:

Beretta M12s HK MP5k in the HK briefcase, HK91

and FN FAL, Colt M16 9mms and a full auto HK G3.

Ronin:

FN 249 SAW, SIG 551

HK 69 Grenade launcher also spotted a SPAS 15 (not the 12)

The Professional:

This was an Ok movie, but had a lot of cool guns at the end.

SIG 550s and 551s

Way of the Gun:

HK USPs and Galil ARM .308

Die Hard:
Of course it has the Beretta 92 and MP5s in it, but it is a great flick and also has a Steyr AUG and HK P7M8.

3000 miles to Graceland:

SPAS 12, C mags, and a FN 249 PARA.

The next great gun movie for this summer will be MIAMI VICE

The trailer shows SIG 551s and 552s 50 BMG and HK grenade launchers.

Something i left out in an earlier post, Cross of Iron, by Sam Peckinpah. Zee germans want PPSH 41s over their MP40s. Great choice. The scene with Coburn emptying his Shpagin's 71 round drum into one man is awesome!
