I can't think of the name of this horror movie. Probably made in the late 60's or early 70's.  My father and I are having a friendly wager about it...

Takes place in a mansion in the english countryside. It's about choosing the successor to the head of the family. The head of the family is on life support behind a curtain. Group of relatives gather at the mansion. They start dying off one by one. Fireplace flares up and kills one of the relatives. Another one is killed while swimming in the pool by drowning. I think the last scene is where the candidate puts her hand behind a curtain and a ring gets clamped on her finger. She's the chosen one.

It's pretty old. Does it ring any bells? I've googled and googled, but I can't even remember the name of any actors in it. Any ideas???  SOS

Hmmm...Katherine Ross, maybe. and her husband was played by James Brolin, IIRC.
