1) "The Outlaw Josey Wales"-the confederate angle coming out of the Civil war. Cherokee author Forest Carter
2) "Silverado" Amazing cast-John Cleese, Costner, Kevin Cline, Danny Glover, Jeff Goldblum, etc.
3) "The Magnificent Seven"-Akira Kurosawa remake. very cool
4) "Pale Rider" Clint as a man of the cloth
5) "Unforgiven" Morgan Freeman,Clint, Gene Hackman...nuff said
6) "She wore a yellow Ribbon" - Cavalry indian wars flick
7) "The Searchers" - John Wayne searching for neice kidnapped by indians
8) "The Horse Soldiers" - civil war true story
9) "shenandoah"- conversion of a pacifist
10) "Young Guns"- You get to see Jon Bon Jovi blown away.

Unforgiven-great acting, most emotionally violent western ever made.
Tombstone-great acting, great lines
Anything by Clint Eastwood-he is quite simply THE MAN when it comes to westerns. Much better than the Duke in that regard.

I really dont have a top ten. But I will say that if i did it would certainly include the entire "Man With no Name trilogy" which consists Fist full of dollars,For a few more dollars and The good the bad and the ugly. Which are all great quite simply cause they include memorable lines and Clint Eastwood being a badass.

I'll add "Tombstone", just 'cause I love ~~Dana Delany in anything, or preferably nothing at all~~ the movie.

Costner's "Wyatt Earp" tried too hard.

Well, almost anything! The Man with No Name Triology and Unforgiven, Pale Rider, and Outlaw Jose Wales are some of the best westerns ever. Two Mules for Sister Sarah isn't that great either for the record

I can't believe no one has mentioned Stagecoach, I theenk.

Any John Ford western is a classic. Any Sergio Leone western is also a classic.

But Unforgiven is hard to beat.

"Any man I see out there, I'm gonna shoot him. Any sumbitch takes a shot at me, I'm not only gonna kill him, but I'm gonna kill his wife. All his friends. Burn his damn house down."

The scene when he charges the four outlaws on horseback with his reigns in his teeth is a classic!

the jack bull -

dances with wolves -

has everything, easy but good plot, beautiful scenery, very well casted characters

those are my favs, there's a lot of good 1s after that that would be hard to rank, but they are

unforgiven
outlaw josey wales
really most clint eastwood and john wayne movies
