The wind and the lion
the only "REAL" movie of this type that i know of. great in every way!

the beast
more of a russian oh shit! we took a wrong turn and they are after us!
"Tank KA'BOOM!"

Laurance of Arabia.
the classic. lots of arabs being the good guys.

so do you know any others?

Lion of The Desert. I remember watching it over and over on HBO as a kid.

I'd watch it again too. It was a really good flick as I recall. Made the Italian Army look like a bunch of amateurs, which is exactly what they were at that time (WWII North African campaigns).

Not a movie but I liked watching Operation Desert Storm back when smart bombs first came out.

The only problem was that there was very little character development.

i cant believe someone else remembers this movie. was made i think in libya when gadafi was a real enemy of ours. glorifies the arab resistance againts the italians before wwII. big hero played by anthony quinn is a mullah and a real person that lived during that time.

is pretty good though. you never see it on re-runs i think because of the libyan connection.

There's The Messenger (or is it The Message?) about the Prophet Mohammed starring Anthony Quinn. It was produced by Saudi Arabia, and parts of it are laughable, like where Quinn is praising the never-shown Mohammed for his love and respect for women.
