I've made a "quiz" for everyone in the vein of the ones at Film Wise. They'll have screen caps with a certain theme from different movies. (ie - fireworks, subtitles, computer screens, views from behind/above, etc.)

I've done one showing scenes focusing on peoples' hands and the things they're holding. There are some super easy ones in there, but I'd like to think a few of them are kind of tough.

Depending on the participation, I'd like to make this a regular thing. Well, as regular as I can make it using my own movie collection.

Try to guess the movie.

Wow, you guys are pretty damned good. One hour into it, 12 are already guessed.

To draw this out a little longer, I'm not going to say which ones have been guessed (though it's painfully obvious in most cases), nor am I counting correct answers with a question mark. (except the one that has it in the title)

Keep up the good work fellas!

Let me say, I'm very impressed.  I thought the Pulp Fiction one was going to be harder because it was such a tight shot. Though  there was a little trouble deciding which in a series, 15 out of 20 guessed is damn good.

1) Almost Famous "Mystique, boys. As long as you don't know what's in this hand, you'll always want it more."
2) Wayne's World
3) Die Hard
4) Leon/The Professional
5) Top Gun
6) The Bourne Identity That's the fisherman looking at the capsule he just cut out of Jason's hip. I was thinking about using the shot with the diode lit up, but it seemed too easy.
7) The Big Lebowski
8) Die Hard: With A Vengeance "Who knew Canada could be this much fun?"
9) The Bourne Supremacy Did two sequels in the same quiz throw you guys off? I can refrain from it in the future.
10) Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within Very realistic CG, but CG nonetheless. I thought someone would get it.
11) Spy Game
12) The Fifth Element
13) Back To The Future
14) The Sum of All Fears
15) Replacement Killers
16) Strange Days
17) The Matrix
18) The Rock
19) Dude, Where's My Car?
20) Pulp Fiction

Outstanding job Movie Forumers! This was fun. I'll start thinking of more themes.

Where do you get those images? You didn't make them yourself did you?

Awesome game. I really enjoyed that. Great idear.

I never would have gotten 1, 6, or 10. 8 I knew I had seen recently but I couldn't get it out. 10... man that was a damn tricky one. It never occured to me it was CGI.

Thanks wombat

I got the idea watching Die Hard the other day. When it popped in my head, I immediately though of 3 or 4 others. The rest of them came to me just staring at my shelves of movies. Pretty sad that I can look at my movie collection, pull out a DVD and say "Oooh. I could use the scene where he's holding up the disk!"

I just put the DVD in my computer, fired up Cyberlink Power DVD, selected the chapter, and snapped screen caps when the moment hit. All told, it took a couple hours - but it was worth it. I already have some other ideas brewing for you guys.

I even sent an e-mail to the guys at FilmWise. I included the pics and answer key. I know they take fan-created submissions for the "invisibles" quizzes, maybe they'll use my handful-themed visual quiz.

Here's the response I got from Brian Kirk, one of the FilmWise "Boyz".

Hi Dave. Yeah, that's a great quiz. I actually have a ton of "hand-object" shots (as I name them in their file names) that I'm gonna use in a quiz sometime, and several of them are ones that you've taken here. Actually, I've already posted one such quiz that you can check out at: http://www.filmwise.com/visual/hands_01.shtml but I've got several more for a new one.

As you might've seen, I'm taking it easy for a bit, but I hope to start putting up new quizzes in a few weeks, and that will be one of the themes. Thanks for the email, take care,

Bri

My pics of hands all had something in them, not merely shots of hands. Oh well, it'll be cool to see how many of mine make it into that quiz.
