Why is it that 9mm blanks tend to work better than .45 cal?

I have notice in almost every movie involving a 1911, 9mm blanks are used. Anyone know why?

i have heard that 9mm is slightly tapered towards the chamber and thus, easier to feed as blanks.
no experience, just spreading a rumor.
