I think a lot of people on these internet boards are users of porn. As a Christian, I abstain from it, but I also see a lot of Christians indulge in it.
Speak up if you are a Christian and is free of porn, at least tryin. |
porn is evil. I honestly think that it is one of the silent killers that is destroying the (modern) human race of the internet/'now'-entertainment age of today. Soft porn even infiltrates our mainstream TV stations today. The opportunity to lust is around every corner. Celebacy of the body and mind is leading to the downfall of human morality.
I work for a company that does business in the Internet Service Provider world.
Our research with ISPs around the country shows that almost 60% of traffic to home Internet users has pornographic content, on average of course. Porn content is responsible in a very large way for the Internet that we have today, it was funded by demand for more bandwidth, lots of the demand was/is porn related. Just an interesting statistic...... |
Additional tidbits: Porn was the driving force behind development of streaming video. It is also currently the driving force behind a lot of technologies being developed to let people "rent" a video by downloading it, watching it a certain number of times, and then becoming un-playable until it is "rented" again. And I'd hate to see what the percentage of bandwidth at the university I went to was used for porn, vs what was used for online gaming vs what was used for class or research related work. |
Speakin' up. Chemical drugs promise to serve and please with artificially induced pleasure, but really enslave and frustrate. In a similar way, porn is like a drug that affects the mind and spirit. God wired men to be visually stimulated, and satan found a way to exploit that. |
For me abstaining from porn is alot easier then not ogling at scantily clad women in public. On a PC or in public sin is sin and temptation seems to be everywhere. Shok |
That's one reason why, although I live in a coastal area, I don't go to the beach. Consider David & Bathsheba. David wasn't where he was supposed to be (he was supposed to be leading his army). He looked at something he shouldn't have looked at (his neighbor's wife taking a bath). This led him to think things he shouldn't have thought, which in turn caused him to do things he shouldn't have done. I figure by avoiding certain places I nip this process in the bud. |

How many team members that post a lot in these Religious threads are also posting in other smut laden BOTD threads that appear in the Team Boards?
The Human Body will naturally fight off or try to fight off any type of sickness or poison that enters it. If you eat something bad, your body will naturally cause you to throw it up to remove it from your body. Pornography is a poison, however, the human body has no natural barriers to it. Take it into your mind, and it poisons your mind. It will not leave the recesses of your memories. Though repentance can make what was crimson white again, the memories remain forever. Pornography is a poison. |
Yep, you can't clean your memories like a hard drive. I've heard two terrible jokes that I wish I had never heard and refuse to tell others. The mind can be poisioned. |
Doing all I can to avoid it and repenting of my past weaknesses. I pray the Lord to make this weak link in my armor strong. |

As much as humanly possible. My porn intake is approx. 10 seconds at a time, maybe once every 3 months. I definitely have an appetite for it. But I know it displeases my Saviour, who died for me, and then rose again, to give me power over sinful appetites. I'd rather have a unfettered relationship with Him, than with smut mags or video tapes. Interstingly, my Saviour encourages an active sex life with my wife - a real live flesh and blood woman. I figger, I got it made. |
No doubt. I can only hope God has some sort of "whore exception" for these trollups who go around in public in their underwear. |
I can't think of any, on a personal level. What ones are you thinking of? |
Rampant adultery, abandonment of those who don't agree with our specific values, abortion , etc etc etc, I could go on but it might get the thread OT and I don't really want to do that. Pornography is bad, but it's also something that is very easy to not partake in and has minimal effect on us unless we want it too. There are many other vices around that do affect us whether we partake or not.

Plus porn makes it easyer to wack off so you can get to sleep.h.gif

Do the two of you want to see something funny? |

Voyeurism in and of itself is a byproduct of being human. What you do about it makes all the difference.
It's all about healthy balance. Think you'll erase, supress, or keep in control the titilation of seeing things you shouldn't? You're high. That's like believing you'll only have pleasant thoughts. You're not built to work that way, all you'll do is create in yourself a repressed, bottled up mess. However, choose to indulge in these thoughts and practices with a degree of healthy curiosity and towards the goal of adding excitement to your natural sexuality, then I see nothing wrong with it. My wife and I have watched porn together, and enjoy a healthy monogamous sexual relationship. Nothing to hide, nothing to feel dirty about. It hasn't poisoned our relationship....but then we don't go to extremes. We don't watch nasty stuff, and we also don't chastise one another for being a sexual creature or have an ignorant juvenile belief that we are only allowed think of one another, ever. I can't tell you, having worked in an addiction clinic, the number of sex-addicts I talked to that came from religious households where all porn/masturbation/sexuality was frowned upon. Gee, great solution to the human needs, guys. Victorian sexuality didn't work 100 years ago, it doesn't work now. Healthy sexuality isn't repression, nor is it over-indulgence. Ok, flame suit on. |
Repent of pornography? I reek of pornography!
But i don't obsess over it. That's when it becomes unhealthy. Everything in moderation. |
YOu honestly don't see the strong correlation between porn and adultery and abortion? |
Yes there is a correlation, but some people refuse to admit that the correlation exists. Sad denial. |
could you please elaborate on how you define "obsess" versus "moderation" and how you fit into the former category? |
Jsut like alcohol. an occasional drink does'nt make you an alcoholic. When it gets out of control, and it runs and ruins your life, that is an alcoholic. a little porn now and then does no harm, IMHO. however, when you're tihnkign sex 24-7 and can't get enough and will go to any limit to get it, thne you've got a problem. (and i don't reek of porn. Jsut being funny) |

It's easy to look past the truly dark aspects of porn because the cover looks so dang good. For some reason, ever since I can remember I have been cursed with an almost overwhelming fetish/desire for female chest parts. I look for them and see them everywhere. I dunno why I am this way. But I do know for a fact that porn DOES create unrealistic expections between husbands and wives. After all, some hot chick is looking right at you and telling you with her eyes to come do things to her that your wife won't let you do. You're wife must be screwed-up, right? I used to deny the effect that porn has on a relationship. But I was lying to myself. When you remove it, it's easier to see. But it takes time. Also, that "hot naked chic" in the picture doesn't really want YOU. She wants the money. Put her in a long-term relationship with you and she'll be just like your wife (or likely much worse). And in most cases, she is not happy about what she's doing. Porn is not the harmless thing that most claim it is. There are victims. And you are one of them.

****Deleted****<va-gunnut>
... why? ... because I wasn't "toeing the company line" when it comes to human physiology ? What crap! ... and what a load for locking SteyrAUG's thread too. If he had posted that "non-over the line" thread in GD it would have been shipped here ... man up and grow a pair of stones VA-gunnut |
As long as I run this forum, I get to decide what is OK in here. If you don't like the way it is being run, just don't post in this forum any longer. You can also complain to Sr. Staff if you would like. |
I sure would like to see what was posted and then deleted. I also don't see what was wrong with SteyrAug's post. |
Here, WW started a compaint thread in GD: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=386091 |

Most porno is crap, but there are one or a few tapes that keep me on that rewind button, something about mental fantasy, although I get horny at the drop of a hat I do not like sex unless its with a special woman, I have been with many women who are knockouts on the outside but are the ugliest person inside. You can say basically porno is like a lack of responsibility to look for that special person....If I said I did not like porno (not all of it) I would be a liar....
Fine, he has a complaint thread. It still does nothing to explain why SteyrAug's thread was locked. Guess it was just because you didn't like it? ETA: Perhaps it was locked because it questioned wether some self-proclaimed "christians" really have a set of morals of their own, or if they're just living in fear of being judged. |
The point of putting the link too the other thread was to keep this thread from being hijacked. If you want to complain or ask questions, do it in that thread or the one that is tacked at the top of this forum. |
In a LOUD and BOOMING voice from above.
I think God said the same thing as he cast sinners from heaven. |
Why not just answer it and be done with it? |
Can we please not hi-jack this thread any further. If you want to ask a question, do it in the two places I mentioned already, and I'll answer your question.
Why not everyone stop complaining and get back to the original post. It's so far OT now it should be locked.
Drink a little, smoke cigars a little, watch porn a little. You know, ya don't stay home from work, feigning sickness, to browse porn sights. Obsess: my guns. I take vacatiion days, personal days, and occassion "sick days" to shoot. I participate in AR15 discussions whenever I can fit it in. |
The question has already been asked. You've seen fit to avoid answering it twice now. I won't be surprised if this'll be number three. |
As for the original question:
I have little use for pornography. A decent girlfriend will take care of all of those "needs" without looking at ink on a page or dots on a screen. |
Adultery existed before porn. You might show a correllation from adultery to porn, but you'd be very hard pressed to show the reverse. Abortion? Well, porn existed when it became medically available, but you'de have to show causality, which nobody has managed to do without cooking the numbers. Biblical quotes saying that God is ashamed of his creations aside, you're going to have to work a lot harder to convince me that enjoying the female form (or male if you're female) is evil. Tachyon |
Just because adultery preceeded porn DOES NOT man there is no correlation between porn and adultery today. YOur whole point is non-sensical. Maybe you should pull out a dictionary and look up the word "correlation."
Who's trying to convince you of that? Where does the Bible ever say God is ashamed of His creation? |
Why not just take your little jihad to IM??? |
I don't see why I should have to ask the SAME QUESTION again in a SEPARATE THREAD to get an answer. I asked the question. VA-gunnut is aware of my question. Instead of answering (either here or via IM) he decides to tell me to go ask it somewhere else. I've already asked, and I'm not going to ask elsewhere. I'm sorry you don't like it garandman, but I'm not going to do what you want. |
If you want an answer, you know what you need to do to get it. If you don't want to ask in one the other places that is fine, but you're not getting the answer here. I've tried asking nicely for you to stop hi-jacking this thread. I guess being nice isn't good enough for you so now I'll just tell you. If you do anything else to hi-jack this thread, your account will be locked. So do yourself a favor and drop the issue, or take to a different thread. Here is the link for a thread that you ask any question you want, or complain in. www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=135&t=384435 |
