Now, I don't know if that thread was started in here or if it was moved here. I'm hoping it was moved into here, because there were some posts made in there that went way over the line for this forum. I'm leaving this that thread locked, because I don't feel like editing everything out.  


Since that thread was brought on by GM's thread "Scientists, please explain this to me", that was moved here, it definitely proves a point. GM tried to have a discussion in the GD that was not solely based on religion. Of course that didn't last long because of the posting rules for GD. I'm leaving that thread locked too.

The BS in that thread just set the tone for the rest of that discussion, and the new one that was started. This was one of the main reasons the RF was created. To keep the pissing contests out of the GD.


Most of you know the rules for posting in this forum. For those that don't, please read the tacked thread at the top of this forum. We have had two accounts locked due to people not following these rules. It won't be any trouble to have a few more accounts locked if the rules can't be followed.

You are correct in that your thread was not a religous thread. As you pointed out, it was fine until the "children" showed up. Since I don't know who moved the thread, I can only guess that someone felt it deserved to be moved here.

Unfortunately, your thread went down hill quick. Sadly, this happens a lot with almost any thread hinting at religion in the GD. This is the main reason I stayed out of all religous threads for quite some time. It may be over two years since I last read one. Why? Because of the BS that goes on in the GD with these types of discussions.

IMO from everything I've read in the Mod forum, there is no organized effort to rid the GD of religion. Just an effort to cut down on the pissing matches in the GD. Sadly, religous topics cause a lot of pissing matches there.

I understand the point you are tying to make.

You need to understand that this forum was created to help reduce some of the turmoil that exists in GD. The GD Mods have hard enough time dealing with all the BS that goes on there, so anything that can be done to help them out is a good thing AFAIC.

If Staff or the Site Owners really wanted to keep religion off of the site, they would just ban it's discussion. Instead, they have created a place where religion can be discussed without the BS of GD thrown into the mix. I still don't understand why some of you don't think this is a good idea.

Anyone really interested in learning about religion can come here and do so in a safer enviroment then exists in GD. Of course we will still have the occasional troll, but they can be dealt with easier from here.

So, we can either make the best of it, or we can run it into the ground and have a few accounts locked along the way.

Until the site owners decide to change the posting rules for the GD, then the Mods will have to keep doing the best job they can.

Everyone seems to want the rules lax in GD while they are making posts, but more strictly enforced when others are doing the typing.

Lead by example is the best way to deal with things like this IMO. If there are enough people that want the tone of GD brought back to a semi civil manner, they will have to be the ones to start. IMHO
