going to get a smaller truck,adn was wondering about the gas mileage the 4.6 gets compared to the 5,4 v8 and the 4.2 v6

Smaller than what? A F-150 is full sized.  If you want a small truck go with a Toyota Tacoma or a Ford Ranger.

LOL-a F150 will only give you slightly better gas mileage.  If you want really better gas mileage downside to a Toyota Tacoma or a Chevy Colorado or a Ford Ranger.
