Anyone ever have a experience with 'em? Comments?

You won't find parts at the local Pep Boys/Autozone/Advance auto parts stores. I was in one of the last units to have one, they took pride in that fact. One was a star in the movie Flatliners. A real neat truck that's also a convertible.

We picked one up,FOR FREE, about 20 years ago, fron the local VFD.They had a few of 'em,and a pair of HALFTRACKS! They had pulled the motor out of the M715 that we got,as a spare for the one they were using as a brush truck. Was going to put in a SBC,but it set with a bunch of our other "projects". Sold the tranny to a buddy for his tow truck (had a PTO).Sold the winch, and a few other things.Scrapped rest.I'm still depressed thuinking about it.Had real steep gears,5.8-6.17s,I forget which.Even had a flange on the exhaust for the optional "deep water fording kit".Still had the rifle rack between the seats. The fire co. had made on helluva front bumper for thier M715s.Had brackets come out about 30",with a crossmember of 4" pipe.Had a piece of 6" pipe slipped over the 4" before assembly. It let the truck ride up and roll over small trees.Plus plenty of storage on racks along side the roller. Also had a "hardtop" made up of aluminum and plexiglass.
Guy across the river has one restored he uses for shows.

I own one. A 1975 kaiser M715 with a 401 Buick motor,
the six cyl. didn't have enough git up and go for what I
wanted to do .It has a Braden 10 ton winch, PTO driven,
on the front bumper. A hard top, and a deep water fording
kit.It is not fast but can maintain 65 mph and not run to
hard.I have installed warn hubs for better gas milage.
I have change to a 12 volt system, to hard to find 24
volt parts in the boondocks.I still run 900X16 Non directional
tires.I have several sets.

Drove one a while, have a few club members that own 'em as well.  Their pretty pleased with them.  Parts aren't that hard to get with the exhaust manifold being the impossible item from what they tell me.  Yahoo! groups has an M715 forum if you need more info...  http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/M715trucks/

I was looking at M38a1 also but I am leaning towards the M715 because it has more cargo space.
