for liability only or collision coverage?

All policies that have collision seem to be very high regardless of driving record.

Progressive can have some good rates for bikes, but they are strongly anti-gun.

Try Markel. They have the best rates that I've found.

Luckily I am 40, however, State Farm is the cheapest.  Lots of theft in AZ.

You may do better if you are insuring a car too.

Progressive was double my State Farm Quote.

1. Is there anyone in your immediate family, who may have access to the bike, who has a crazy driving record?

2. Ask the same insurance companies you've called earlier for a quote on a smaller displacement bike -like a Suzuki SV650 or Kawasaki EX500. If the rates are significantly lower then it's not you, it's the bike you're trying to cover.

Some models fall under the "sportbike" label by insurance companies and the rates automatically jump in price. Add to that the fact that you're under 30 years old plus the bike being 781cc and it gets downright prohibitive.

How much biking experience do you have?  If this is your first bike, they will ream you, because all they will see is "800cc first bike".  They probably expect you to total it in a couple of months.

When I got my 929RR two years ago I went with Progressive for about $800/year full coverage.  After the first year was up they sent me a renewal policy for only ........$225.00/year!!!.  I don't know why it dropped so much but I didn't ask either.

Take the MSF safety course, you get a 10-20% discount.

I'm 26, have American Family, 1 car, 1 bike, house, maxed limits  100/300/100 and pay

$297/year

Full coverage, $500 deductable, and it's an 02 SV650S.

Flybywire,
Definitely the bike I went from $300 or so a year for cruiser to $1100 a year for my Katana for the exact same policy. Those plactics the bike is wrapped aren't cheap to replace.

Dang thats 'spensive!  When I bought my 1200 sporty a couple years ago, I was 22 and went with progressive, 100/300 with comp and collision... 12 mo. policy was like $560.  After a year of riding and getting comfortable, I dropped it to 20/40 and kept the full coverage, but the policy dropped to $220 a year.  The rest of my stuff (truck and house) are with state farm.

If you're accident free, then it's gotta be somebody in your immediate family that's got you screwed.
