Nice.

I have a 00' RC51 and a 93' Ducati 888 in MINT condition in my house.

I really wanted a new zx10 of Gixxer, but figured I'd wait till next year and see what happens with Honda, Kawi, Yam.

I've got an 02 SV650S

Lightly modded:

BT010's front and rear
.85kg racetech springs, racetech emulators, and 20wt oil up front.
GSXR 750 rear shock
TBR slip on exhaust, stock header ceramic/chrome coated. (5,000 miles on header in the pic, doesn't fade or change color)
140 main jets
removed chain guard
Galfer SS lines up front and "black" galfer pads.
Intuitive "pro" frame sliders.

Night and day difference over a stock SV suspension wise.

At the moment I have a Yamaha TRX-850 (not the Honda quad). It's an 850cc twin, '99 model. I've had it since new, 6 years now.  Not the fastest bike on the road but lots of low end torque and it's good for 220 kmh (about 138 mph).  It's almost completely stock except for some mild aftermarket cams, but I'll make a few more changes between now and the end of the year. Braided brake lines, R1 "bluespot" brake calipers (they bolt straight on), replacement exhaust cans, and some suspension tuning. Probably some Racetech Goldvalve suspension inserts will go in as well.

What's it like? Yamaha decided to clone a late 90's Ducati 900SS but didn't want to be completely obvious about it. The TRX was the result. It's a parallel twin but has the same type of crank as a 90 degree V-2.

If I had to get a new bike tomorrow the Suzuki SV-1000 , Honda VTR-1000 or Yamaha FZ-1 would be my first preferences (not neccesarilly in that order).

If you consider a Kawasaki EX500 (Ninja 500R for the newer models) than I'm a sportrider, of sorts.

Then again, I bought an 03 SV650S instead of two M11's

Yeah, yeah, yeah......I know, but there is not too many feelings that come close to doing 180 on two wheels, well except maybe doing 180 on one wheel

Sorta, as I just bought a 05 Suzuki Katana 600,  I know some no longer consider this a true sport bike but its real world fast and handle much better than I need, previous bike was a suzuki volusia, so this is a big step up in performance. Definitely a fun bike and not as uncomfortable as I thought a sportbike would be.

2003 Kawasaki ZZR-600 (ZX-6E) that I bought at 5,580 miles last June and now has 14,950 miles on the clock. I love this bike and have been looking to upgrade to something similar, but of more power. I was really wanting a mint ZX-11. Or a 'Busa. But now that I've heard that Kawi may possibly build the new king of big-bore sportbikes (maybe an '06 ZZR-1300), I may be heading that direction when it comes out. I saw the pics in the latest issue of Cycle World (or was it Motorcyclist?) and I LIKEEEEEEE!!!

My beloved 1992 Honda CBR 600F2:

Bought it new in '92. I had the custom paint (I did the decals/graphics myself) done in 1993.

I also did the following upgrades in '93:

Ferodo oversize rotors and pads;

Fren-Tubo kevlar brake lines;

Factory jet kit;

V&H SS2R pipe;

Fox Racing Shock;

Progressive front springs;

Targa Solo Seat cowling;

Zero-Gravity windscreen;

Scorpio bike alarm...

Oh, how I loved this bike. Sadly, it is no longer mine... My cousin made "an offer I could not refuse" in 2000 and the bike was sold.

Why is it that this bike looks so sweet, but the picture on the triumph website looks disproportionate.  Is it just because it’s 2 dimensional or is the gas tank really that tall.

www.triumph.co.uk/usa/263.aspx

ETA:  I see they have different rear fenders and different seats.  Do they have the same tank?  Are they even the same bike?

sold my turbocharged hayabusa last year.

i miss the sound of the turbo and blow off when you let off the throttle.  the pull that bike had was awesome and made everything else feel slow.  riding a 200+hp bike after that was no thrill at all.

other than the feel under full boost in a straight line i dont miss anything else about riding the busa.

if you guys like speed on your busas, put a turbo kit on them.  i used to sit in traffic on hot days and everything.  it was as streetable as stock honestly.  i had a heavier clutch in there and that was the only difference from a stock feel because the clutch lever was alot stiffer but i got used to it real quick.

i had a velocity racing kit.  they are the most expensive but they are built really well and probably the best from what i have heard.  my only experience is with velocity racing though.  i had the base kit (stage 1) i think they called it.  it spooled up really quick and at around 5500 rpm.

the base kits were $4800 or so before but i would bet they may be even more money now.  when you lift the tank and a nicely polished plenum is sitting there it just looks awesome compared to what the airbox looks like.

i have met barry henson (the owner of velocity) and he is a hell of a nice guy and will help you out any way he can.  i had to have him look at my bike to check something at a local race and he was more than willing to do it even though he had his own bikes to work on at the track.  he owns and races the fastest and quickest hayabusa in the world and has the records to prove it...atleast as of last year.

 1984 RZ350, I totally rebuilt the bike 2 years ago.

 30mm Carbs, Spec 2 F1 pipes, Spec 2 stage 2 porting, Spec 2 clutch, with a milled head.

 @70hp and only 275#'s

 New shock and fork springs, braided brake lines and new rubber.

 The only reason I have that stupid K&N sticker is to cover up a spot where the previous owner laid it over

My son's '05 PW50 with the restricter removed. He rides it like a madman and he's only 3.

It's the 12 yrs as a MSF instructor talking.

I ride with knowledge of the risks I must accept everytime I go for a ride.  Too many riders are not aware of the risks and therefore can not begin to try to reduce that risk.  My friend's grandson was given minimal instruction.  He was learning as most riders do,  from others who have no formal training and who don't know the best/proper way to operate a bike.

Most riders,  if you ever took a MSF course or watched a Keith Code video or any other good training videos you quickly realize how poor your riding skills really are.

Its the same as all the people that ride sportbikes or (anybike) irresponsibly, as in too fast or stunting, all without regard for their own safety and that of others near them.

If you ride beyond your skill level too often it will eventually catch up with you.

I've been around lots of riders that thought their skills were much better than average, when in fact they didn't even have a grasp of the basic skills needed to operate a bike.

Sorry for the hijack.  I just want all my fellow riders/shooters to have fun AND ride safe.

And what do you ride?

Eventually you are going to fall. I broke my arm when I was 15 on my 125 racing at Dutch in MI.

My first bike IS a 1969 Artic Cat Whisker (still have it) no training wheels then. I used to ride the 100 mile loop in Baldwin MI on my XR75 when I was 10.

That was my training, I hope can be as good as my father.
