So I love the Hell out of my GT S197 08 California Special - It was the first car i ever paid for in Cash coming home from a deployment. It Really is an awesome car and looks real unique with the work Ive gotten done to it.. i haven't really seen a mustang like it on the road.  But Ive reached a point where i need to make a decision.

I'm sitting at about 91,000 Miles (not bad for an early 08) and they are all highway. It Runs great but Ive done every Bolt On, Tune, Exhaust mod that can be done.  Ive been Eyeballing a 5.0 But the 2013 - 2014 Looks like a retarded Catfish from the front and the 2015 just Isn't My thing.  I would like to find a 2012 that hasn't been beat to hell and not to many miles but the inventories seem to be short.  Its either that or go for a Turbo... Either way i don't think ill be able to get as much performance out of my 4.6 as those guys running the Coyote engines. Ive seen that Ford Actually sells the 5.0 Coyote as a Crate for around 6k but after during some research that does not seem to be an easy task.   Anyone else had to make this choice??  I would miss it for sure

Drive a 5.0. Your 3V will look like a slug compared to it.

If you don't care for the new body style, mod the shit out of yours if you're bored.  I've got a '15 and love it.  Go test drive an S550 and then get back and post.  I came from an SN95, so it was a major jump for me. But every time I get in this car, I have to remind myself it is a Ford. It is an amazing car for the money.
Edit:  looks like you can still play around with some suspension mods.  Looks like you have stock springs on that pony.

5.0. No doubt.

I thought my 06 GT was decently quick. I had done cams, long tubes, intake, exhaust, tune, 4.10 gears, etc. Bone stock, my 11GT shit on it. Factory 3.73s. Interior is a huge step up as well. Just a better, more refined vehicle than the 05-09s. Mine was a little higher miles - but I got it for $16,500.  I hear Kona Blue is the fastest color

Since picking it up, I did Koni STR.T shocks/struts, Eibach Sportline springs, JLT intake, tune, GT/CS lower valence and fog lights, saleen grille, GT500 wheels and spoiler.

and for the good times with my last car

In the 05-09?

Not worth the effort unless you're going to pull the motor and build it first. The 3vs are limited to 440-450ish rwhp to be on the safe side. Some have pushed it a bit higher, but that's about when they start to pop. If you're okay with that power level, it's easier to just get a blower kit and have at it.

there is definitely an interior quality leap on the mid model 2010+ cars in addition to the coyote for 2011+.

There is an exponential leap from SN95 to SN197 to SN550.

my 2015 is too nice.   Had it 2 weeks and while faster in every since of the word my ass doesnt know if it deserves things like cooled seats.    My 95 is going out for it's friday romp to work tomorrow.    When I brought it out of the garage it was a "holy shit this is different" level of feel.   My 05 comes out next week.

You might look into a blower for your 4.6 3v.   No reason you cannot hit 450rwhp with a blower.    My 05 GT has 122k on it and it got to where I would be spending around 12k on it to get engine/power where I wanted it.    I said fuck it and put 17k down on a 2015 GT PP and got the 0% financing and 1k cash back.   It was that or wait a year for another opportunity.

My goal is to keep all 3.   I like the unsophisticated Joe Dirtness of my 95 Cobra.   The 05 is somewhere in the middle.  The 15 is holy shit nice, like dont touch it nice.

I'd go with the 15.

At my local autoX event there was a spec'd '15 stang there with upgraded suspension, tires, exhaust, intake, long tubes and tunes and was killing everyone even GT3 porsches, and modded C6's.
According to the two guys who drove it they've owned every generation stang and this one has been the best. They got it for $32K and put about $8K into it, I'm into BMW's and Chevy's and I must say I was impressed on how much of a package it is for $40k.

For anyone who thinks a 3V has no potential...  The article is written with latest update on top, so you have to scroll to the bottom and start with "Stock 1/4 mile times" and work your way up the page.......     http://www.cjponyparts.com/tech-2005-gt-test-mule/a/176/

Another option is to start with a low mileage F150 Coyote motor.  I have seen sub 15K mile engines for ~$2500.   Coyote swaps are becoming more and more common so the bugs are pretty much already worked out.

5.0 all day and twice on Sunday.  I had an 03 GT with exhaust, intake, throttle body, tune and suspension work and loved it.  Thought it was a pretty quick little car.  Then I drove my 14 GT.  Ford had come a long way since they had built my 03.  These things are fast of the lot and can be made faster very easily.  Mine is now sporting long tube headers, exhaust, intake throttle body and tune.  I've also put on Ford Racing springs and Koni shocks/struts.  These mods added to the stock 6 speed and 3.73 gears makes it a blast to drive.  I thought about waiting to get the 15 but decided I wanted the last solid axle Mustang(the way they are supposed to be )

I got $10k for my 06 GT with 93k miles. I was friends with the sales manager, though.

That being said - I can't see any connection between the catfish and the 15s. If you think the 15 looks like a catfish, don't look at the older camaros.

Private sale.  You won't get the full value of your car by selling to a dealer.

Meh, I'd rather have a "catfish" that can outdo a Z28 and keep up with a corvette stingray for less than either of those vehicles.

Besides the appearance isn't difficult to modify with components from various tuners (saleen, roush, ect.)

LOL, when I was shopping for a 2-3 year old Mustang, all I could find locally (with the 6speed and Brembo brakes) were red and black.  I ended up buying a my 2013 in San Diego and driving it home (was there for work).  I went from a stock 03 GT to this one and wow what a difference 10 years made in terms of ride, power and build quality.  I don't see the catfish though...

As others have said buy the new 5.0 engine. The cars have made huge refinements in the 10 + years since yours was built . Go to the dealer and drive one . It cost nothing to take a test drive

The 2013's are by far my favorite mustangs ever. I, however, can see what you are getting at. You will not be disappointed. One of my best friends had a 2013 with full exhaust, CAI, 325 ET Street's on 15x10 darkstars... oh and a little teeny tiny 150 shot. That car ran like it was pissed off at the world. He was a dumbass and sold it for a 2010 F250 which he "owned" for 6-ish months. Now he's back in a 2015 50th GT.
