Factory Five 33 hot rod...

I'm going to their open house this summer to see if my carcass will fit in one...

If it does..the IROC is gonna be for sale.

I've been doing a lot of reading on them. They have the under carriage of a sports car and the body of a model A.

There are a few things I don't like about them but I can live with those.

I've wanted a 33-34 couple since I was a teenager and finding/ buying an all steel complete car is gonna cost big bucks. Then you have the 30's suspension and handling to live with..

Their kits start at 19K.

The roads are really good to wagon trail quality.

I've been driving my 86 camaro on them for 7 years and it hasn't fallen apart yet. They are complete crap this time of year as the frost heaves are softening up and they go from bump to pot hole. By the time the end of April first of May roles around they are pretty much settled down.

Sweet!

Im more partial to RAT RODS, but the high end ones look wicked. I just hate to wash, clean and polish anything, so rat rod is my style.

I hear ya. If I do jump in feet first..it's getting painted flat black with flames..I hate waxing cars!

Here is a photoshop I did of the above car with the basic look I want.

the rims / tires won't be quite that big but I love the steelie look.

In a heart beat if I can fit comfortably in the coupe. I love the IROC but it's never been on my list of "must own if I ever win the lotto" cars.

67 Stingray 327 / 4 speed (friend owns one)

AC Shelby Cobra (although after seeing one in person (kit car) and talking to a friend who drove it..not so much anymore)

34 Ford 5 window coupe.

I'll never own the Vette, the Cobra doesn't have the appeal it did, but a 30's Ford 3 or 5 window coupe..oh hell yes!

The Factory Five is my best option both in a dollar sense and drive ability. It sucks they aren't set up for a small block chevy but...such is life!

I hear you Striker, a small block chevy setup would be cool, but definitely not a deal breaker.

Exactly. Nothing against ford..I'm just a chevy guy. But the after market for the 4.6 and 5.0 engines is huge so..

With the weight of the car..it won't take much to make it quick. The IROC is putting out 387 at the crank and that is plenty of power for the driving I do.

Come on now...you originally said 5 window, and now you're down grading to a 3 window

The '33-'34 coupe is my all time favorite street rod, LONG before ZZ Top made it the hit it is today. They were actually very high dollar cars (original shells) long before ZZ Top made them popular. I was about to buy one to street rod, then ZZ Top introduced their car, and then it was just out of reach.
But honestly, I do not care for the sectioned body on the Factory 5 kit. I prefer the original body lines with a chopped top.

I saw something similar with a small Ford engine like the Cobra's. It sounded awesome. Nothing beats the old Fords for sound. So I wouldn't sweat the Ford/Chevy thing. And if your just keeping the hood closed, there's nothing wrong with a plain jane 5.0L.

A guy down the street from me has a Flat Black one with open sides around the engine. Hes uses a old fashioned pan head. But it's real quite. Not sure if those old engines actually make any power.

Add shipping up here to the high price for a genie or already hot rodded steel body and the price is going to go through the roof.

I agree with you on the original lines but for the price of the hard top kit..I can have a roadster and a coupe..plus the modern suspension,steering and brakes make the sacrifice worth it.
