I'm required to play golf with my clients. But the company does not pay for me to practice. Can I deduct range balls from my taxes?

You might be able to deduct under the "unreimbursed employee expenses". But I doubt that would pass the "red face test" with the IRS auditor.

Try it. Worse they can do is disallow and make you pays some taxes and interest. If you don't try, you will never get it. The amount would probably be so small, it would not even get checked. The IRS has guidelines on deductions and for each category. Don't exceed and no audit.

Ask for a private letter ruling on the matter.  Better than an audit.
