But what I did do was a major rebalance the rest of my holdings and ditch anything I could think of that wouldn't do well in this market/economy. I am currently running at about 6.5% in cash, but I have a good bit of TIPs which I consider a form of cash.
With my recent purchase of Amazon stock, I am a bit low on cash, but it should build back up slowly over time. If Amazon stock continues to rise, I may sell some, take the split on remaining shares, and the remaining shares would be no-cost to me. I haven't owned any Earl stocks in a number of years. Odd for me as my family has been Earl related for employment and producing wells for many decades. I missed out on the recent run-up. My bad. |

Did they sell their holdings? Not owning oil for you is about like me not owning any tech stocks. I just don't. |

I am not aware of Rivian. If this is that automotive company, the only thing I know is they have had some management "changes". I hold no Rivian stock. |

They held a big stake in Rivian and took a beating. I looked at Amazons numbers and I wasn't really impressed with them and stated that, but I was not aware the downturn in Amazon was due to Rivian losses. Thanks for the info. |

I have an energy index in each of my accounts and most days over the last 3 weeks it would be one of the only few that were green. I really wanted to get a couple of individual oil stocks but with my luck I wouldn’t know when to dump them and end up losing in the end. They are up 13% and the last time they were this high was 2014.
So now the strategy. How long to hold them? Wait for oil and gas prices to start falling? |

I'm not adding to my position right now. I sold 300 shares of HES about 4-5 weeks ago to lock in some profit. I kept 950 and if it starts dropping I'll start selling off 100 share blocks down to about $100. "They" still say it's got a lot of upside left. I'm not so sure. Depends on the war and the economy. I usually hold HES and VLO as core positions. How much just depends. Personally, I stay away from the majors. Got burned on BP back when Deepwater Horizon blew up. Didn't get out fast enough. I no longer buy pure natural gas plays either after Chesapeake. There's some fuckery going on in the NG industry. I've still got about 600 shares left of some royalty trusts. But I'm pretty much done. I'm tempted by LNG, but I'm like a gun shy dog any more. So like every other investment, buy low sell high, it's not without risks. |

Well, HES staggered today and probably is going to bounce around between a narrower support/resistance for a bit. VLO broke out again and made a decent gain.
I broke my word on NG and bought a few hundred shares of EQT last week. IDK if I'll add to that or not. Drilling is picking up in the Utica and Marcellus. It will have a tighter stop loss on it, for sure. As of Friday. I managed to eeek out another $1200 today.
