I donated a huge stack of my comics (Punisher, X-Men, Wolverine, Iron Man) to my mom's church and was told that they could not send them because the comics were violent. Does anyone know if this a valid restriction? I think the lady my mom is dealing with may just think the comics are "evil" or something. BTW, they are sending a study Bible, which is great. Though the Bible certainly has much more violence in it than any of the comics I donated to send.

-ETA this is a care package sent to a soldier in Afghanistan. On his list he requested comics.

It's certainly a church thing.  Respect the church and don't bother.

You have his name and unit address right?  Just send your own box, full of comics.  Problem solved.

Yeah, that's what I plan on doing. I wished they'd have made me aware of their stipulations before hand. I mean these are comic books that any CHILD in America could legally buy in comic shops.

Send Archie Comic Digests.  Those MIGHT make it past the church lady censors.

Not really....Archie has the hots for two girls at the same time and no thoughts of marriage.

Last year I received about 80 pounds of Spawn & various other comics while in Iraq. The year before that I sent my collection of old Heavy Metal magazines to a buddy in the same theatre.

There's no restriction.
