I know this probably doesnt pertain to you but when your Brigade or Division decides to have a run when a group of JVB/PSD vehicles needs to use the roadways and has 4star generals to drive around, its generally not a good idea to get in their way.

I'm 4ID, and the only BDE/BCT runs I've done have been right here at Ft Hood.  And why exactly would it only be "POAG"s doing a BDE/BCT run?  Last time I checked, there were about 4-5000ish in a BDE/BCT...and that 4 of the 5 battalions in a BDE/BCT were line units, not support.

Of course, I might be wrong, as I didn't work in Baghdad...except for a couple of escort and retreival missions.

And what exactly are "JVB personnel" and how are they more important than any other soldier serving in Iraq?

It was on Victory Base, where their main HQ was.

Why would it be POAG's?  Because the JVB and Infantry guys were the only ones who worked on the weekends.
Everyone else worked 5 days a week.

JVB = Joint Visitor Bureau = PSD for all of Iraq.  2star Generals and above were who we escorted, all the way up to VPOTUS.  We had a very small part when the POTUS came.
Basically, there were two sets of rules on FOB's/Camps.  FOB rules and JVB rules.  If we had a VIP with us, we were essentially given a blank check to do whatever was necessary to protect our VIP.  This included running vehicles off the road.
Hell, we ran an MP convoy off the road in the Green Zone/IZ one day because they got too close while we were escorting the Korean PM.

And it was at least a BDE run, if not bigger.

I know some guys who were at Prosperity(4BCT), we were at Kalsu/Iskan/PB Diyarah/PB Copper(2BCT), I'll have to get in touch with some guys I know in 1BCT, since I think they might have been working out of Victory...but they are 7/10CAV 19D's so I don't think they are "POAGs".  Got no idea where 3BCT was, but our sister BN (1/8IN) was supposed to have been working north and west of Baghdad.

You might have had a little trouble running one of our platoon convoys off the road...unless you rolled with something heavier than a M2a3 BFV...

There was people stretched out almost 2miles of road at like 8am.  We were pissed to say the least.  It was even more interesting when we're trying to run through people, blaring our sirens and people decided to get smart and smack the sides of our bus with their hands and yell "Hey, slow down!"
All they got in return was more blaring of the horn and the middle finger as well as a head poking out of the window saying "Dont have a fucking BDE run in the middle of a warzone you idiots!"

Ah, we didnt run them off the road in the redzone.  We didnt do many missions along Irish with a VIP.  This was, like i said, in the Green Zone.
The MP's had Humvees and ASV's.  We came to a bridge (14th July) and we kept going and they were forced to slow down or run into the bridge.  

Funny story though, we're going down Irish back to Victory and we come upon an American Patrol with Humvees and a Bradley leading them doing about 20mph.  We come off the overpass and go around them, well as we start to pass the Bradley, the turret rotates to the left as our lead vehicle passes them.  So you've got 25mm chain cannon pointing right at our lead humvee for a few seconds, I was like, "Haha, shit, they getting fucked up!   Glad I'm not lead Humvee, I bet my buddy is shitting his pants gunning right now"

I never saw the green zone.  Only parts of Baghdad I saw was Tampa to 10CSH and BIAP.  And whatever that place was where I stayed before going leave and right before I left.

Yeah, that chain gun got people to move with a quickness...especially when I would be scanning over the front and the BC would be using the CIV, he'd target designate and the turret would speed slew and lay on whatever he was looking at...it was fun to watch people jump and run when you did that...

The bongos and dumptrucks in our AO would give a wide berth when we got on the road.  Warning shots were SOP in our area.

WTF?  I had no idea there were people anywhere in this country working a 5 day week, except our civlian DLI English teachers maybe.  I thought we were slacking since we take one day off a week, (not the same day, it's staggered) we operate 24/7 just like we always do in the AF, at least in maintenance and ops.

Go up to Victory on the weekends, the PX is packed, Subway/Pizza Slut are busier than hell.

The Water Palace is all but closed up except for essential personnel and if anyone in the Generals offices have meetings.

Forget trying to go to the main PX on Liberty.
