I was talking to one of the guys from my unit who recently got back from the sandbox. A few of the things he mentioned that I never hear about was life at the FOB - fights between soldiers, tensions between units from different states, no privacy, etc.

What are your experiences?

FOB life was...well for being in a combat zone, pretty damned good. 2 man CHU's, showers and shiiters, 4 meal a day chow hall, gym, internet and satellite TV. There were tensions between the maneuver unit and the unit that ran the FOB (those that fought the war and those that were safe behind the wire). It could have been better but it could have been a hell of alot worse.
