I have a very close relative who will be going there and I would like to know what the situation there is like.  I can't find it on the map, but I know for certain that US forces operate there.

Can you describe (generally) what the US "base" there is like?

What is the situation with the locals?

Any recent activity by insurgents that you can relate on-line?  If not on-line, I can provide my personal email address via IM to correspond with anyone who has recent knowledge.
