Looks like Bud doesn't want to get into a bidding war. If they continue to run the current bodies after Cup goes to the COT I can see how it might be more popular than Cup.

I also hope ESPN does a better job with the Busch series than NBC did with Cup overall.

Nascar changed for me the day Dale Sr. died. I still watch it occassionly but nothing like I used to. I thought it was just insane when the fined and docked points from Jr. when he said 'shit' during an interview. He didn't even say it in anger. Nascar is more popular now than ever, but I think a lot of the old school diehards are leaving.

It was over long term when they got rid of "Winston Cup" and made it "Nextel blah, blah"

On the radio when the old guys are talking about the old days, they have to refer to it as nextel cup racing, nextel gets pissy when you say winston cup.

Granting the fact that Nextel paid to have their name up there; the NASCAR organizers prostrating themselves in obeisance to the pc god is what sealed it for me.
