when I try to click a web link in my e-mail I get this message:

this operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.

How do I undo this on my computer?
Running windows 7 and it wasn't doing this with Vista

Sorry.. I though in my not-infinite wisdom, you would say if you were running 64bit or 32bit ...  that will start to matter in the coming months and years.




So, clicking on any link anywhere, except in a browser, (take that literally) will not open a browser?

64 bit
and no browser will open when clicking any links in my e-mails.
Kind of a PITA when checking order status

Click Start, select "Default Programs", click "Set program access and computer defaults", click "Custom" and select "Internet Explorer" and then finally click OK.

Should do the trick.

you can try to do a repair install of outlook.   to go to the control panel >  click change >  repair.

you can try to download the latest sp2 for office.  

i've seen this before don't remember how i fixed it.

Hmm.. you've got a different problem than most then. That has worked every time I've had that issue on a clients machine.

seems like his system is not setup to invoke a browser when a link is clicked.



or outlook is borked and does not know to request a link load.

Try to reset IE. Go into Internet Explorer and reset the default settings: IE -> Internet Options -> Advanced -> Restore Defaults. Shut down and restart Outlook. Try a link again.

Do you have any web browsers installed such as Chrome, netscape, safari, blah blah?
If you do launch IE >Tools> Internet Options>Programs> Make sure IE is selected as the Default Browser>Ok > Close IE
Launch Outlook then click on link inside email > verify if IE opens
If yes then select the browser you wish to use

let me know if this works
