Am I the only one excited about the Ubuntu 9.10 release today?

It would depend on the change log.

It is a nice improvement over 9.0. I've been running 9.10RC since last week. EXT4 file system is now the default, and a cool built-in "Ubuntu Software Center" is very handy. Faster and more stable than Windows 7.

So do you have to download the server version to get 64bit?  I only see the desktop version in 32bit.

Never really got that into Ubuntu more of a CentOS / RHEL guy, and I just got my update fix earlier this week with CentOS 5.4

Using PCLinuxOS now but I'm currently downloading Unumtu 9.10 to give it a try.
Tried the 7.10 version back in '07 and couldn't get it to work right (ugly fonts and DVD playback) so hopefully by now those are seamless.

Right now I'm just getting it set up and all the necessarily stuff installed (restricted extras, compiz, etc..) so I haven't really gotten to play around with it much, but what I've seem so far is pretty damn good.

Everyones using the repositories right now, so suspect some slow downloads.  Oh, and someone on the Ubuntu forums posted this...EXTREMELY helpful Top things to do after installing Ubuntu 9.10

Just installed the update through the system updater, but haven't tried it yet, due to D/Ling a big file in my Win 7 partition.

I'll probably try it later this weekend.

I downloaded 9.10 and burned 2 CD's. Reset the BIOS on my dad's machine (which runs Linux Mint) but cannot get the machine to boot from the CD -Rom drive.

This...sucks.

I badly need to build a new machine...I'd like to have an Ubuntu machine that is top-of-the-line, rather than one that is built from my spare/junk parts box.

Well so far I really like it.  A lot of the stuff is under the hood, but the new software center is pretty cool.  I'm about to try Kubuntu 9.10 to see how it is...I have yet to use KDE.

If you want the full KDE experience try out Sabayon Linux, it makes Windows 7 look like Windows 3.1.
