The computer my kids use started beeping from the cpu speaker today and nothing obvious such as rebooting will stop the racket.  The computer seems to work normally otherwise.

Any ideas on what I should check?

could be a fan not spinning at the correct speed (the beeping is a warning telling you the cpu is overheating).

  take off the case and make sure your fans aren't full of dirt.  

if they are a can of air, and vacuum should help

The keyboard was shot.  One of the kids baptized it in lemonade.  Thoroughly, apparently.
