Hello folks.  I'm looking for a AMD XP Athalon 3000 for a socket A motherboard.  I have had terrible luck getting one on ebay and the few NIB I find are way too expensive.  I was hoping that someone here either has one or has a connection where I can score one.

Thanks for looking.

just do a search for them

btw what kind of computer do you have.   what motherboard(and model number) is it if its not a dell or hp brand system.

edit.  you will also need to know the front side bus of your system.  there are two avail for the 3k+    333 and 400

if you find one i HIGHLY recomend buy a retail box.  you will thank me later

Yep, if you get anything retail on a computer, that should be it.  The warranty is well worth it.

Thanks,  my machine is built by me.  The FSB is 333 and the max CPU it can take is the XP 3000.

The prices for the XP chips have gone through the roof, into socket 939 XP64 land.
if you're trying to get a little more life out of your socket A then go with this. www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819104216 the price is still reasonable. the XP is the better cpu IMHO but do you really want to put that much money into a disconitued model ? I'm glad i picked up some extras 3000 and 3200 ( not for sale) before the prices went up.
I would recommend saving up and building a 939 system. mmk

Oh gee thanks Pal!!!

One reason is that I want to put off on the re-install of XP Pro and friends.

eta - I found one for 80.00.
