How do I create a DVD from .avi files that can be played on a non-PC DVD player?

[ARCHIVED THREAD] - How do I create a DVD from .avi files that can be played on a non-PC DVD player?

I have Nero and Cyberlink PowerProducer 2 Gold that came with my PC.
I tried to use PowerProducer and it says that it is creating folder and file structure and doesn't move on even after an hour.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there an easier or quicker way?
I have tried googling but can't find anything that that works for me.

Set-top boxes are "dumb" and have their firmware set to do certain tasks.

1. find "Video_TS" folder
2. open folder'
3. play "*.vob" files

You need an avi-to-dvd file converter...if Nero isn't doing it try here ---> www.doom9.org
They are a great source of info.

Some dvd players can play some .avi files, so you might wanna just try burning the movies as data on a dvd.
