I have used Bittorrent but I'm not impressed Seems like I can never pull anything down anymore.

Is there something better now that people have moved on to or am I just doing something wrong?

Not really, just find something with plenty of seeds, and use a program called BT Engine to run along with your preferred bit torrent client.

BT is the best way to go. It really depends on where you are downloading from too though. I'm on a few sites that I have no problem getting downloads to finish and fast.

Ok, then what's a good site. I'm looking to download audio. I've been going through PirateBay.org, but all of the torrents seems to be dead space from there.

I'm either doing something wrong or I'm picking stuff that's so obscure there are not seeders/leachers putting it out because I can't get anything to start downloading.

I'm trying to get the soundtrack for Kill Bill Vol. 1. I find it on every "torrent server" but I can't pull it down from any of them...

I find BitTorrent to be a total waste of time.  Get yourself a good Usenet package for $15/month - I use newshosting.com, and then pay the pennies it takes to get a newzbin account and just do it.  You want Kill Bill v1 OST, here it is.  Downloads real quick as it is not P2P

Bittorrent is GREAT as long as it's something fairly recent and/or something a lot of people are interested in.

Usenet is GREAT, but requires a more technically savy user.  You need a pay service to get the most out of this, where as there's no extra charge for bittorrent.

So you subscribe and get everything you want under the subscription? Sounds promising.
I'm not very good at usenetting though... how difficult is it to find what you're looking for?

So how's about downloading that album for me?

Why not just click on the link I sent you - there is a search bar at that site where you can look for whatever you want.

Ok... I wasn't sure that the search would work unless you're a member... you know... like here.

Another BitTorrent question.

You start the torrent... it puts a folder on your desktop (or whereever you want it to be). I loads al of the files in, but they all start out as 0kb files. So, say you don't want all of the music files in the folder... if you delete the ones you don't want will it screw up the whole download or will it skip those and jump right to the songs you want to download (the ones you didn't delete)?

You can just use a torrent client like BitComet, where you can choose which files of the torrent to get.

Sometimes when I am looking for a no-cd crack for a game, and gamecopyworld doesnt have it, I will find a torrent for the game itself, and de-select everything except the crack.  Not hard to do at all.

I think it will screw everything up if you do it the way you describe though.

Any good BT client will allow you to do what he just described. I use Azureus and I know it allows you to do this. Works great if you aren't sure about a whole torrent, you can download just a single file and review it before you download the rest.

eh... paying money for something that isn't that useful. I'd still perfer BT'ing over using the Usenet. Far more people putting stuff out there on BT than on Usenet, and the downloads are not always that fast.. depends on the server you are getting the files from.

Thanks dizza. This one worked great. I managed to get exactly what I was looking for. The funny thing is the music I wanted isn't even for sale on iTunes... and some of it isn't for sale anywhere. There are some "unreleased tracks" that don't seem to be available from the Kill Bill Vol. 1 soundtrack. The songs I really wanted were on in the unreleased compilation and I pulled it down through demonoid... and amazingly fast.

Thanks bud.

Well you know what, he couldn't get it on BitTorrent - i found it immediately on Usenet so there is your first argument shagged.

Second argument I will ALWAYS be able to download faster from Usenet than you can from BitTorrent - ALWAYS.

Prove me wrong.

He just said he found it on the site I sent him to... just have to know where to look. So my first arguement isn't "shagged."

You might always be able to download stuff from Usenet faster than you do BT... but that won't be the case for everyone. In the last 3 hours, I've downloaded over 9 gigs of information. I know where to go where the files are there and the speeds are good (read better than Usenet)

I'd stop using that program and move to something like Azureus. Shareaza is buggy as hell and a lot of torrent sites even ban that client because of the way it "calculates" stats.

Bittorrent seems to get the job done for me, Just make sure if you have a router, it is set to forward the ports correctly.
