I'm not using an optical mouse, it's a standard Dell mouse.
The wire is not stiff, very flexable. The mouse can be perfectly still, but the pointer begins to move across the screen

I find that if my optical mouse isn't on a completely consistant surface, the pointer will move on it's own. At work there is a crease in the desk where two parts are mated together. Happens all the time there. |

i've seen that happen before. It's usually on laptops with a button/eraser head style mouse. I think (not sure) it is caused by buffer overflow on the mouse commands and you are seeing the program catchup. Could EASILY be wrong on this.

I get that all the time too on some boxes...such as this laptop...since I'm using the arm of the chair for a mouse pad. Another possibity is in a work environment where there's a snickering coworker somewhere in the background with a wireless mouse.

I see it all the time with BS no name mice. It looks like your mouse it going out, spend $25 and get a new optical mouse.

+1 contact your local psycic and ask!!!!!!!! that or I would buy a new mouse... its a dell right...call their support, i think they cover mice...i might be wrong
