I'll be ordering one today. The Intel X-Core family is fully beast mode compliant. Basin Falls is going to be the shit. I'm excited. Threadripper my ass, AMD is always behind...

I don't think it will make any difference in my uses.

If only my cad/cam software would take advantage of the multiple cores.

Don't think I can justify $2k for a CPU, I'll just go be poor somewhere else.

At $1251.00  more than the 16 core threadripper

16 Core 32 thread threadripper will be $849.00

I bought a KAC SR15 last month for about $1600 more than a diamond back AR. Same thing right?

AMD shit is always over hyped. Intel actually performs. $1200 isn't really a big deal to me. Buy once cry once

I buy what I need/want for the use case no matter what brand.

I have zero issue buying a new AMD cpu if the price/performance is where I need/want it to be.

Just buying something thats more money does not mean it is better.

Intel is gimping the lower tier i9's, less pci lanes and other stuff.

Speaking of over-hyped, the cpu that you "ordered".... Intel has not even given out concrete specs on it yet nor any availability time frame and probably wont be available until 2018.

X299 is a cluster fuck.

I'm staying far away from X299, and I'm typing this on a dual 2011-3 motherboard with dual E5-2667 V3's

This video spells it out excellently.

Yeah the i9 X299 is CF. Intel is in panic mode over Ryzen. With the news from intel not overclock i7 7700k, intel have no CPU to match Ryzen. AMD multi thread is more efficient and preform better than Intel counterpart.

Have fun with artificially limited pci lanes.

Intel is the H&K of tech.

Enthusiasts have wanted more cores forever, but Intel refused. Cause "you suck and we hate you".

Now they are adding cores but limiting lanes for more $$. Typical sandbaggers

Can't wait until EPYC servers drop.  64 threads per socket?  Talk about a virtualization beast.

AMD 16 core cost $850 with better multi thread. Intel i9 18 core will be over $1k more with less features than previous generation. Here what JayZ twocent have to said about i9. His opinion is in line with other tech reviews.

You guys are funny.  I was testing the next generation after basin falls last year when I worked at Intel. There's a lot more coming ....

Their 18 core smashes records? How so? The 14, 16, and 18 core parts dont even exist right now unless they're just rebranded xeon parts slapped on 2066 socket. Intel announcing those 14 core to 18 core parts was a complete knee jerk reaction to threadripper. They're trying their hardest not to get anywhere close to competing with their xeon parts for servers.

x299 is a complete clusterfuck. WTF were Intel thinking making 4 core i5s available for a HEDT chipset, and just how do they expect motherboard makers to optimize a board/chipset that has to do dual channel and quad channel, from 4 cores all the way up to 18 core chips, from 16 pcie lanes all the way to 44, etc. ? It's just a completely stupid move on their part. Intel forcing you to pay money to run a RAID setup or buy their optane SSDs to run RAID is beyond dumb also.

Threadripper seems to have more total PCI lanes.  Can anyone comment on that?

It does.  Intel is super fucking stingy with PCI-E lanes because they want to protect their obscene margins on Xeon branded processors.

Threadripper has 20 more PCIe lanes than the highest Intel chip thus far. 60 of those lanes on threadripper come straight from the CPU.

intels new x299 platform is all fucked up in more ways then one. come on cant even run raid without buying a key card.... wtf did we go back 10 years in time?

I have some things to say - Core i9 & X299

The only consumer intel cpu that worth buying is pen g4400. With intel saying not to overclock the 7700k, intel last high end CPU to brunt Ryzen felled apart. There really no reason to get intel other than the name. Threadripper 16 cores will come out this summer and for the first time in a long time intel is not in the driver seat. X299  i9 confirmed it. Intel is in a panic mode.
