Just installed and tried to play several of my older games on my laptop and they don't work. Won't even start up in most cases.  Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor.

I've updated the latest graphics drivers.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Yep - navigate to the executable file for the game, right click and select properties.  Click on the compatibility tab, and then set it to run in compatibility mode for Windows XP (or maybe Windows 7).  You'll also likely have to tell it to run as an administrator toward the bottom of the window.

Alternatively, Microsoft actually has a compatibility troubleshooter in Windows 8 that can do this for you.  See this page for instructions on using it.

I've tried the compatability mode fix and run as administrator...to no avail.

All the programs ran just fine on my old laptop with Vista (sadly out of commission now), but won't run on mew Windows 8.1 laptop.

Found a patch that got Wolfenstein working, but no joy on any of the other games.
