After trying to save the CD-R/W (pulled it apart twice to check the ribbon cables), the burner will not read a disc.  I can get the system (win2000) to eject the disc from the icon, but even after loaded, the OS still tells me to insert a disc.

I just dropped in an old 4x burner that is running fine, but it's going to take forever to burn verses the 20X that just gave up the ghost.

Anyone got any ideas of how to fix the 20X or should I just right off the $60 that I spent on the drive.

P.S. It's a Hi Val 2410A-051, so if it becomes a target for some Auto fire, Si la vie.

I tried loading factory audio, software, and every thing else I could find to see if the burner would read, no such luck on anything I inserted into the burner.  I have dropped it in a machine running win98se, just have had tome to see if it reads in that machine (need to load drivers).   So if it doesn't work there, it's death by firing squad.

My wife tells me to just let it go, and give it a good burial.  Now I just need to go buy a new burner and change out the old 4x that I'm using in the server.  The pisser is it only took about 10 min to burn everything, were as the 4x takes 45 min.  

P.S. Just saw the price for the lite on, $45 isn't to bad for the burner.
