Sometime in the last few days I noticed that running netflix video on my imac (osx snow leopard) causes 100% cpu usage. This is within the chrome browser.

I'm not sure what changed here but just weeks ago it wasn't using nearly this much juice. Something changed and now it's running super high and causing the machine to heat up so that the fans are on all the time.

Any ideas what to check out to stop this?

I get the same behavior in safari which makes me think it's silverlight.

have you tried manually seeing if there is a silverlight update?

I couldn't figure out how to force it to check. I should probably just uninstall and reinstall silverlight.
