We got hit, had to literally turn a few people's computers off. I have a strong feeling some weenie at work is going to be getting a pink slip tomorrow for being so stupid as to click on that link and starting the while shitbag caused by that crap.

It does not matter what AV/security software you have, if someone clicks that URL link, the software thinks that that person is doing something that is authorized.

What does it do? The last time I got hit 7 years ago, my desktop was flashing malware advertisements, had popups coming up randomly, and all my favorites were replaced with links to deviant porn.

Haven't seen it here... but we're using MS Forefront as an email gateway (virus and spam blocking) so I see very little SPAM get through. Also running a SonicWall firewall/router that blocks known malware and malicious websites.

Fortune 500 company in Pittsburgh got it yesterday. What a mess!

It was extra nasty to laptops, It apparently Blue Screened a lot of them.

Can you guys explain this a little more to those who are in the dark on this. Was it email based? Where was the link?

I got 23 emails inside of 15 minutes from that thing. They were all addressed from people in our corp. HQ. Hovering over the link, but not clicking it revealed the real address. As soon as I saw it, I let everyone in our office know to not click on the link. From what our IT guys said, it was a trojan that went into the Outlook address book and sent everyone in the list the same damn message. The thing that made me suspicious from the beginning was the 'Nigerian' grammar, ie. "Here you have" instead of here you go or here you are. That, coupled with the fact I hadn't requested any documents from anyone.

As for the low life MFer's that create this BS, I wish that the fleas of a thousand camels would infest their armpits and crotches. As a start.

Using Norton AV for the last 15 (?) years, NEVER got hit with any of them. That is why it is our Corporate standard, whatever the cost.

It was a link to a PDF but if you looked at the real URL it went to some UK site (at least in our case) and actually pointed to a .scr file. I assume that's where the real payload was. I guess those that clicked it became hosts and started propagating it further. I know our team lead had to shut Outlook down. I heard one guy (not on our team) say he responded to the person (that he didn't know) and thanked them because he was trying to be nice.

Then he realized it was a virus.

So much for the security Gestapo being so great.
