I'm in a bit of a quandry about trying to decide my next move here.



The issue is the autofocus system of the 5D mkII.  Have any of you actually used the 5Dii in an action type situation?  And if so, what are your thoughts on it's abilities, frame rate aside here though!  I know 3.9 fps is not ideal, I just want to know about the focusing, especially the AI Servo abilities.





Granted, I'm well aware of it's deficiencies in dark indoors lighting, and it having a hard time to lock, but what about outdoors, say in overcast conditions and trying to shoot something like a golf swing, or auto race, kid's tee ball and the such like that??  That's where I'm not real clear on how it performs.  I realize it's not going to be a 1DS performer, but is it adequate enough to handle light duty of such things with 75% or so keepers?



Would really appreciate some insight here, as I only have another 48 hours to make a decision of what I need to do.
