a friend of mine teaches journalism at a local high school.  he just gave me a bad-ass setup free!  the school was going to dispose of these items as obsolete! wtf???  all i had to do was buy a battery and charger....no freaking problem!

Nikon D50
Nikon DX AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Nikon AF Nikkor  28-80mm f/3.3-5.6
Nikon AF Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6

this will be quite the step up from my Canon S3 IS.  I am so stoked!

Yes. Free DSLR and lenses = score. Not the best/fastest lenses but they'll get you going.

In a few years you will look back and this will be the most expensive "free" camera ever.  But, at that point you will have an SB-600/800 flash, a 300f2.8, a 24-85D (HIGHLY recommend this one), a 70-200f2.8 VR, a box of other accessories, a tripod, a monopod, and maybe even a sandbag or two.

Good score...

Good stuff. I picked up a Nikon D50, 75-200mm Nikkor DX lens, 2 batteries and a charger for $200 from a friend...he didnt want me to pay him anything, but I wouldve felt horrible about it...

Paid $120 for a NIB 15-75mm Nikkor lens a few weeks ago...

its a slippery slope dude...first its the camera than the camera acs., more memory cards, then the updated 'puter, more ram, more HD, bigger monitor, better printer, color munki for profiling & calibrating & the list goes on & on & on ...

enjoy the ride

Great score. Congrats. The best deal I've ever scored on camera equipment was a new in box Nikon F5 for $500. It was another pro photographers backup camera that he sold when switching to digital. Still have it around here even though I use Canon.
