Looking for good/user friendly photo editing software --- suggestions?

I'm thinking about Photoshop Elements

I shoot jpg most times and RAW when I'm doing something important or that I want to play with.  The Canon RAW software editing is lacking and not user friendly.

What do you guys think?

I've got Elements 5.0 and I like it a lot.  Considering the price, it's an excellent package.  I haven't worked with other programs.

I picked up a book this past weekend, and it's really expanded what I've been able to do with it.

Probably so, but othes chime in for me.

I use Paint.Net for my photo and image editing needs.  It has the features I use, it's free, it's maintained with frequent releases, and there is a community that creates plugins for it.

Check it out at http://www.getpaint.net/

For photo processing Canon's DPP is good (zoombrowser .... no )
