So, 1987, Canon AE1P, 200mm lens, crappy tripod on a windy night.
I must have liked those Cokin 8 point star filters.. LOL

Tonight I'm going to Dallas to see if I learned anything since 1987. LOL
results to follow.

I'm taking my RB67 and Canon T6i and a rock solid tripod this time.

OK, great stuff.
I'm still working on getting better, but very happy with results. Bad location, but happy with pics. I didn't have a lot of time. So I have to scout out location better next time.
Don't like a prison sitting in the middle of the image. LOL

Thanks.

This vantage point is actually inbetween the S. Houston St. and the Jefferson Blvd Viaduct bridges near the trinity river. There is some street parking off of Greenbriar and N Zang and we just hoofed it a little bit to get over there.

I am sure there are still better vantange points than that around, but the one i knew of has turned into townhouses in the last couple of years unfortunately.

ETA: right around here.

Any time. I also believe there is a higher vantage point right where the marsalis/jefferson curve is. I remember there being stairs that'll take you up to bridge height with a wide shoulder/walkway that could turn out neat as well.

I live in the sticks, so night city skyline opportunities don't present themselves too often.

I do get to Charlotte periodically, though, so sometimes I make the effort.  This was right before the Superbowl that my beloved Panthers tanked.
