On the computer at home, I have ACDSee, and use it for importing and organizing. I shoot RAW on one card, and jpg on the other slot. I only download the jpg files at home and really don't manipulate them except for very minor tweaks here and there. ACDSee is a pretty good program overall, and for that its excellent.
At work, I keep a dedicated very high spec system for the RAW files and PS /LR. I had the full versions till they went subscription, then switched over. I'm still there, although I did get totally hooked up with the entire adobe suite.
PS and LR are, and will remain, the 800 pound gorilla in the realm of photo software. The depth and breadth of the programs are so ridiculous you could spend years learning and still not master it all.
For the price of the monthly, there is nothing that is a better value with equal capabilities.
