 Seriously, I had to hold off buying until i replaces my old POS with a new Gaming machine. Take the time and buy as much as you can afford. See you back soon. |

tell me whats going on.
did you check to see if the board needed any type of bios flash. if you do it make sure its with the old chip..... not the new one. otherwise the system could lock. and damage the board. i would suggest flashing the bios. doing setup default's and then trying the new processor. what was the brand and model of board btw |

Yep, make sure your BIOS version supports the new CPU. You may need to update if not.
PSU (Power Supply) could also be the culprit with your CPU upgrade. The new cpu may need more watts than what your PSU can supply reliably. List out you PC specs. We may be able to help you isolate the problem. Motherboard make, model, and revision #: BIOS ver: CPU: CPU multiplier/bus speed?: OEM heatsink or aftermarket?: What is your PSU rated at and make/model: Memory type/make/size/spec/etc..: Run CPUZ and take a few screenshots and post them here. |

Guess what!
Can you say user error?  Silly me. I had set the fsb to 400 when it should have been 333. I reset the bios and all was okay dokay! ps I should become a Gunny the next time I play.
